[edit] Motto
De Oppresso Liber
It is US Army tradition that the phrase is Latin for "to free from oppression" or "to liberate the oppressed".
Liber means not "to free" but simply the adjective "free", which, in the masculine singular form here used, may be interpreted as a noun, meaning "a free man"; while "oppressus" is not "oppression" but "overwhelmed, overthrown, overpowered, crushed." As it stands, the phrase might be translated "Out of the overthrown man, (comes/is made) the free man." (The structure resembles that of the motto "E pluribus unum": "Out of many, one.") Other translations, just as viable:
"From a man caught, a man free" and "From the man seized, a man free."
[edit] Mission Statement
The main game we play is Counter-Strike: Source.
The Green Berets are ones that conducts specialized operations such as reconnaissance, unconventional warfare, direct action and counter-terrorism actions. We are composed of gamers operating under principles of self-sufficiency, stealth, speed, and close teamwork.
By the terms of their definition, Special Forces are small-scale, clandestine, covert or overt military operations of an unorthodox and frequently high risk nature, undertaken to achieve significant political or military objectives in support of foreign policy.
This IHS is composed of highly-trained personnel equipped with armament, operating under principles of self-sufficiency, stealth, speed, and close teamwork. The Green Berets will often be transported by helicopter, small boats or submarines, parachuting from aircraft, or stealthy infiltration by land.

[edit] Recruiting
The Green Berets’ current recruiting process requires that each new applicant be observed by the Commanding Officer (CO) and Executive Officers (XO) of the platoon prior to admission into the Green Berets. The length of observation will vary from applicant to applicant as the Officers weigh a number of factors before deciding to give a nominee the badge and to let them represent the Green Berets. When recruiting we always recruit selectively, and candidates are evaluated based upon their compatibility with the team. Keep in mind that the application process is a two way deal. 24th is evaluating if a player is right for us and the player is evaluating if 24th is right for them.
The criteria for admissions into the Green Berets are as follows:
This is what 24th looks for in a new recruit:
- A Supporting Member at Tactical Gamer!
- Follows TG and 24th Rules!
- A Mature Teamplayer!
- A Straightforward & Positive Attitude!
- Open to Multiple Games!
- Willingness to Follow the 24th Mission Statement!
But how do you start the process? Follow these easy steps
- Step 1: The player are approached by or approach the RO (Nomad).
- Step 2: The player is then invited to apply to 24th Green Berets.
- Step 3: Now you are on your way to becoming a Green Beret! The RO creates a thread with the recruit's application in the 24th forums. Existing Green Berets then discuss the application.
- Step 3: Green Berets meet up with the recruit a few times on teamspeak or ingame get to know each other better!
- Step 4: If the recruit is right for 24th and 24th is right for them, then the recruit then becomes the newest Green Beret.
Please feel free to contact Nomad, Gen. Waffles or SanFran via a PM if you have any other questions regarding membership.
This procedure will help our Officers to get a first hand perspective on personalities and how well a recruit will fit in the Green Berets. The decision is ultimately up to the Officers but each nominee will be discussed with everyone. Remember, the application is constantly in consideration and that it’s a process and it takes time. Keep trying and keep playing.
