The 9th Mobile Infantry Detachment (9th MID) is an In-House Squad focused on creating a cohesive unit of Battlefield 2142 players. It also fields a competitive team in the Battlefield Conquest League.

The 9th Mobile Infantry exists to enhance its members' enjoyment of Battlefield 2142, by providing a persistent group of players that have the same approach, knowledge, and understanding of strategy, tactics, and teamwork.

The 9th Mobile Infantry is modeled after a squad sized element in Battlefield 2142 and maintains a roster of two to three fire teams. The Spearheads are led by a Command and Staff group, who are responsible for the overall readiness and success of the squad. Individual fire teams possess a mixture of assault, engineer, recon, and support personnel.

The 9th MID selects its members based on their enthusiasm about playing BF2142 and commitment to the squad's mission. Each of its candidates must meet the following criteria before being considered for membership:
- Be a Supporting Member of TG
- Read, accept, and follow all rules and guidelines established by TG pertaining to BF2142
- Be an active member of the TG BF2142 community
- Have the ability and willingness to use in-game Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP)

The 9th Mobile Infantry was formed on December 5, 2006 by Pfeil2281 and Revark. It was the first In-House Squad created specifically for Battlefield 2142 within the Tactical Gamer community. Lorax74 assumed leadership of the squad in February of 2007.
In April of 2007, the 9th MID joined the Battlefield Conquest League (BFCL) and began competitive play in its BF2142 divisions. The Spearheads have earned multiple playoff births and a Best Sportsmanship award for their consummate professionalism both on and off the battlefield.
