[edit] America’s Army Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

[edit] Purpose

The purpose of this SOP is for members of Tactical Gamer to have a set of guidelines and procedures for conducting tactical play on our official America’s Army server. This SOP will address information on our servers, the administration duties, connecting to our Team Speak and its America’s Army channel, connecting to the server, joining sides, in game communications, America’s Army missions, America’s Army leadership, and America’s Army roles.

Remember that the purpose of America’s Army is to have fun playing as a virtual soldier in combat, the purpose of Tactical Gamer is to play the games as they were designed as a squad tactical shooter with proper tactics and procedures.

[edit] Server

Tactical Gamer has one official honor server, what that means is that the server tracks your stats and records your good deeds along with your mistakes. Playing on our server will reward you with honor points and honor levels, or it will discipline you by taking honor points and levels away. It is set on the most common maps, with a seven game round, and then it will load a new map for another seven game round, and repeat. Our server is usually open to the public and usually quite full so if you are a supporting member of Tactical Gamer contact an on duty administration officer to make room for you. (We are usually on our team speak server, in the America’s Army channel.) If there are enough Tactical Gamer members online and playing, the server may be temporarily locked for proper Tactical Gamer game action. If you find it temporarily locked ask for the temp password, which will change each lock, either on team speak or posted in our forums.

[edit] Administrators

Tactical Gamer has assigned a number of members to administer the America’s Army server. They will most likely be on team speak, in the America’s Army channel, in order to take complaints, recommendations, or actions towards an unwelcome visitor. The administrator can warn, kick, or ban visitors on our server so if you suspect either cheating or observe a verbally abusive player, remember the name and contact an admin ASAP. The administrators can change maps and rules of the game but will only do so upon request from supporting members, or to change to a private game for supporting members. Administrators will occasionally spectate the game play looking for ROE violators, cheaters, and other misgivings.

[edit] Teamspeak

It is highly recommended and encouraged to join our team speak server and move to the America’s Army channel or its sub channels. It is best to organize for true tactical play into two different teams and join the appropriate team in game on team speak, but that may not happen especially when auto-balance is on. Team speak is good for chatting, talking, and laughing about AA action, but will only work when we lock the server, turn off auto balance then split into teams and join the proper sub channel and the proper side in America’s Army. More information will be in the Tactical Gamer AA Tournament SOP.

[edit] Connecting to our AA server

You should connect to team speak first, and then you can connect to our Tactical Gamer server in one of two ways.

1.)Start America’s Army, click on deployment, refresh the list, put in the password in the password box at the bottom right if there is a password, then click the server name column title, that will put the servers in alphabetical order, another click would put them in reverse order, find the Tactical Gamer server, click on it and join.

2.)Start America’s Army, sign in, then hit your tilde key (`), that will open up your console box, then type: Open 67.19.26.146 (small letters, with a space between the n and the 6) Hit enter, and it will connect and load automatically.

Once in, join the side you want, try and keep it fair, if there are 4 players with high honor on one side and four players on the other side with low honor, start talking and switching sides till balanced.

Then once on a side hit your F2 key and pick your slot of choice. Remember you have to do this after each round.

[edit] In game communications

By default these are not binded, you have to go into your options and bind you’re in game communications tools. I personally have them assigned to 7, 8, 9, 0, -, and =. I use the 0 key for my squad radio, which is the most popular. Learn how to quickly use the in game comms menu’s once you have them binded. For example: I would hit the 0 key in game, that would bring up a number of saying with a number next to them, whatever I want my character to say in game, I simply hit the number, you can hit the 0 key for more saying, If you learn to use these quickly in game, they can call for help, or save your virtual life. So learn them and use them.

Even thou the hand signals are nice, they are rarely seen by your fellow soldiers, so don't count on them.

[edit] America’s Army missions

America Army contains a number of different missions to perform. The main objectives of this missions is listed on the top right of your in game screen. Read what your suppose to do and follow the waypoint to the corresponding mission in the top of the HUD. If there is a squad leader, he can assign the primary target/mission by hitting the O key and then A, B, or C of the corresponding task. That task will then be underlined in the top part of the HUD. Remember what your mission is and work on performing it that is how the game is designed to be played. You can check out the official America’s Army web site and review each mission including maps under the game Intel section.

Also, while in mission, you can hit your F5 key and get an overview of the current map.

[edit] America’s Army leadership

America’s Army is developed to utilize proper chain of command and control in game. When you first join a side, then join a position, you’ll be assigned to a fire team usually A, B, C, and D… and so on. There will be an overall leader, usually a SFC (Sergeant First Class), or a Capt. (Captain). That overall leader is the man in charge and should be directing fire teams towards task assigned in the HUD. If you’re a fire team leader, the top person in each fire team, then you should obey and follow your overall leader’s instructions and request. If you’re assigned to a fire team, then you should stay with your fire team leader and work as one team to engage and take out enemies. You’ll notice in the top right of your in game screen a rank and a small letter next to it, that designates what team your in. You will then see the next higher up marking in your HUD. If you’re a gunner in Bravo team, then you will see where your Bravo team leader is up in the ticker tape, make sure you stay with your fire team because you work and shoot better in game when near your leader. If you’re the fire team leader, you’ll see the SFC or Capt. Up in the ticket tape, just for reference, since you should be assigned to move your team off towards an objective.

Know your role as a leader in game, and lead your men by using in game communications or team speak.

[edit] America’s Army roles

America Army represents different roles in a fire team. You could be a leader, a rifleman, a machine gunner, a grenadier, or a medic. Know your role and play it, if you’re a machine gunner, while your team is moving to an objective you run into an enemy force, the gunner should go prone, hit the H key to set up the bi-pod support and lay suppressive fire, meanwhile another team or members of your own team lead by the fire team leader should move to flank and engage the pinned enemy. If you’re a medic, play the role, if someone calls for a medic there will be a red icon up in the ticket tape, hit your M key to call a medic, or if the medic hitting the M key will tell them you’re coming. The injured should dis-engage and move back to a secure area, the medic can then arrive and assist you. Don’t expect a medic to heal you while in the middle of an engagement, disengage first.

You can go to the official America’s Army web site and under the game Intel section read ( here )all about the different roles and there purpose in a fire team.
