The USMC launched their campaign to capture the beach from their carrier. The carrier contains the commander's assets (UAV, Radar). Note there is no artillery.

If the MEC can capture and hold the USMC Carrier, they can effectively eliminate the USMC threat because the USMC cannot retake the carrier.
