[edit] 2142 Basic Medic

[edit] Purpose

The medic is to keep teammates alive and to keep them health and in the battle. In 2142, the medic kit is bundled with the assault kit. You are never just a medic in 2142 but must be an effective solider too.

[edit] Tools

[edit] Medic Hub

-Heals yourself and injured teammates.

-Can be deployed to the ground to heal teammates or held in the hands. The med hub heals more quickly when in your hands then when deployed on the ground.

-It is possible to hold a med hub in your hands and have one on the ground, thus increasing your ability to heal two fold.

-A great way to heal your team up quickly is to pick up the kits of fallen hostiles and deploy their med hubs. You can then reclaim your kit to continue the fight with your freshly healed friends. Yay!

[edit] Defibrillator

- Used to revive fallen teammates that are "critically wounded"

-Can be used to kill enemies at close range on a last resort basis

-Overheats after 4 charges

-Often, it takes more then one shock to successfully revive a teammate

-If a player is knocked off their kit it often makes a revive impossible.

-Keep in mind that not all players are able to be revived. If a body sustains serious damage (APC mortar, tank, etc) the players is considered "killed" as opposed to "critically wounded."

-You do not need to crouch or prone to revive! The defib is effective at ranges longer then the knife. Only crouch or prone for cover during a revive, each affects your mobility.

[edit] Other

-Wear light armor. Heavy armor only offers only slightly more protections and robs you of speed.

[edit] Revive Hierarchy

1. Your SL - Your squads spawn point and leader

2. Other SLs - Team's spawn point, allows your team to function and work

3. Medics - If your SMs aren't vocal, you will not be able to determine the location of these medics. But reviving them makes reviving everyone else easier and more efficient.

4. Others - 'Nuff said

[edit] Revive SOP

When a person goes down, you have 15 seconds.

15 seconds is MUCH longer then you think it is.

1. Notification - Be informed that the teammate is down. Find the location (mini map + voice) and the cause of death to better prepare yourself for the revive.

2. Move - Change direction towards the downed teammate.

3. Clear - You cannot revive without a clear area. Hostiles will attempt to keep the bodies. Take the time that you have. Be sure that the downed friendly will not be killed immediately after being revived.

4. Revive - It best to inform (if possible) the person being revived. It helps be sure that the teammate will be situationally aware when brought back to the battle. Revives also work as a reset to the revive timer. On SLs especially, a revive even hot battle is a way to extend time to clear the area. Everyone hates to be revived and be immediately killed.

On "hot revives," inform the teammate that they will be brought into intense combat.

[edit] Judgment

-As a medic, it is your job to save the team tickets, not lose them.

-Every time you go to take a revive, you need to make a judgment call.

-Ask yourself: Can I get this revive and escape alive? Can the person being revived escape alive?

-It is being a smart and intelligent medic to deduce when a revive is not worth it. A failed revive in which both the downed teammate and yourself die losses the team two tickets instead of one. This can cost a game.

-This decision should be based upon enemy activity, and the amount of time you have to make the revive. If the body is being covered by enemies and you do not think you are able to properly clear it, it is best to save your own ticket. If you are informed that a teammate is running out of time on his revive clock and you are certain that you are unable to make it in time, it is unnecessary to divert your path.

[edit] Miscellaneous Information

As a medic, staying alive and being an effective solider is just as important as healing and reviving. Half to being a good med is being a good assault player. To keep your team alive you too need to be alive.

Sometimes, bodies will become "clipped" in objects in the environment. This prevents a successful revive. To fix this, throw the med hub on the body and repeat the defib shocks. The med hub can help to knock the body out of the object they are clipped in.

This will be followed by running revive drills as well as drills to clear the area.
