General FAQ
From Tactical Wiki
- What is the difference between public and private servers?
Tactical Gamer operates servers that have features such as reserved player slots, reserved teams, or completely private servers. In order to access these reserved slots, teams or servers you must be a supporting member of the Tactical Gamer community. Public servers are open for all to play on with no restrictions.
- What type of Internet connectivity does Tactical Gamer have?
Tactical Gamer has mutliple gigabit ethernet (Gig-E) connections to over 10 major Internet backbones such as AT&T, Level3, Sprint and UUNET. We also have Gig-E connections to end-user providers such as Time Warner. Our data center is located in Dallas Texas.
- Is Tactical Gamer free?
There are limited resources for non-supporting members. As more servers and features are rolled out, they may or may not be available to the general public. Becoming a supporting member of Tactical Gamer ensures that you have access to everything we have to offer. Supporting members also get additional perks such as e-mail accounts, web space and more. We are able to provide the services we offer only through the generous support of our subscription members.
- Is Tactical Gamer a team or clan?
No. Tactical Gamer is an online community focused on team-oriented gameplay in a mature environment. We have multiple in-house teams and support independant teams and clans within Tactical Gamer. You will see members wearing |TG| tags while in game, but that is purely a sign of support for Tactical Gamer as opposed to any team affiliation. We DO, however, assemble teams from our member base to compete in various tournaments and events.
- Does Tactical Gamer support teams and clans?
Absolutely. We can offer your team or clan a private for discussions and planning. We can also offer your team practice time on our servers. Team members wishing to take advantage of these resources must be Tactical Gamer members. We can even provide you with web hosting for your team complete with your own site, URL, forums and more!
