Match Player Slot Allocation
From Tactical Wiki
Slots will be awarded divisionally. First the COs will take their slots as per the matches preassigned numbered CO list. Next the aircraft divisions will fill a number of slots on each team equal to the number of seats in non-transport aircraft for the match's map. Maps with air assets at capturable bases will have the seats in those air assets assigned slots on both teams. So under any circumstances a team's air assets will have a pilot on the server assigned from the air divisions' numbered pilot lists.
Next is the assignment of the infantry division's slots as per the signed-up teams.
Credit to John CANavar for suggesting the following idea that I will refer to as the proportional slot allotment model.
"I guess I might offer a solution.
They key here is "fairness". Any member of this league (whether he/she is a member of crowded in-house squad or a small one) should have an equal opportunity to play, i.e. should not wait any longer than another league player to join the next game.
Here is the solution:
- We have 64 slots to fill
- Lets say there are 5 teams. Numbers in brackets indicate number of players in each team
A [5]
B [20]
C [10]
D [15]
E ... [30]
Total: 80
- Each team will deploy players according to the percentage it represents in total number of [supporting members]. For example:
Team A: (5/80)*100 = 6.25%
(6.25*64)/100 = 4
Team E: (30/80)*100 = 37.5%
(37.5*64)/100 = 24
Team A and E can deploy 4 and 24 players respectively. Each team will rotate its players for the next match. As you can see a player in team A or E has the same opportunity to play in the league no matter how big his/her team is."
I had originally intended to institute fixed player rosters with a set depth beyond their slot allotment of about 33%. So Squad A's roster would have 8 players and they would get 6 slots for a squad and assuming they have 2 no-shows then everything is fine. I like John's proportional slot allotment system more.
[edit] Voluntary Allotment Adjustments
I think it would benefit from voluntary proportion allotment adjustment. Some squads have many less active members while other squads of the same size have members that intend to make nearly all their matches. Without adjusting the allotment, the less active squads would be responsible for filling as many slots at more active squads despite their members' desire not to participate as frequently.
To reflect this desire squads will are requested to notify ABRA if their squad anticipates not needing all their slots per their proportion allotment. Based on how many fewer slots they intend to fill, their proportional slot allotment will be decreased to reflect the lower anticipated attendance.
- Example: Squad A has 14 members giving them, say, a 10 slot proportional allotment. Their members are all newly-weds with more babies than kills most nights. They would habitually be unable to fill all 10 slots so their team captain contacts me asking for a reduction in slot allotment from 10 to 8 total. They are able to fill this consistently without either letting down their team mates nor complicating pre-match slot forfeits and re-assignments.
[edit] Fine Print to complete the policy
- If a squad is unable to fill their proportional slot allotment, their extra slots will be forfeit to other squads who have more players present than their slot allotment.
- Remaining slots will be forfeit to the numbered list of supporting-member(SM) free agents.
- Remaining slots will be forfeit to the numbered list of affiliated non-SM free agents
- Any more remaining slots will be forfeit to the numbered list of unaffiliated non-SM free agents
- Remaining slots will be forfeit to the numbered list of affiliated non-SM free agents
- Remaining slots will be forfeit to the numbered list of supporting-member(SM) free agents.
- For the purposes of record keeping, squads unable to fill all their slots will only be awarded half points for their win/loss record. Squads unable to fill half their slots will be only be scored half points in the event of a loss.
- If squads are unable to fill all their slots it will be a relatively time-consuming and laborious activity to consult the overflow SM pool, ranked SM free agency, and non-SM free agent lists to assign the remaining slots. A squad is allowed to leave some of its slots vacant once without penalty beyond their record-keeping for that match as outlined above. The next infraction will result in a suspension of slots for the next match equal to the number of slots left vacant. Each additional instance will increase the duration of the suspension by one match. I.e. your 3rd allotment vacancy would result in a 2 match slot reduction(the first time vacancy being unpenalized in this way). IN extreme circumstances permanent slot reductions are possible.
