[edit] TGU: BF2142 Advanced Infantry Course

A few quick notes: This course is about no one kit but rather as the name suggests being an infantry soldier in BF2142. Infantry is the core of 2142, Being alive is better than being dead (no ticket loss and you can take tickets from the enemy).

[edit] Cover

What is good cover?

- Anything that blocks enemy fire can be considered cover but the best cover comes from objects that you can duck behind and pop up to shoot from

Reasoning behind wanting cover?

- To protect your life.

What to do in cover?

- Engage and Hide from approaching enemies.

What not to do in cover?

- Walk out from behind cover without a good reason, Expose your self by laying down and having body parts stick through cover See Screenshots for Examples

Effective use of cover involves moving from one piece of cover to the next, minimizing your risk of being out of cover during an enemy engagement.

[edit] Minimap

What gives you minimap dots?

- Q-spots, IDS, CO spotting, Otus + Recon NetBat

Why do you want minimap dots?

- Situational awareness, being Situationally Aware allows a higher chance of survival.

[edit] Grenades, The Universal Weapon'

Pretty explanatory – Run drills.

[edit] Light vs. Heavy Armor

Light

– Double Distance and Double Recharge Rate compared to Heave Armor

Heavy

– Only 10% extra protection on the torso compared to Light Armor

[edit] How to deal with Mechanized Armor as infantry'.

Assaults

– You want to get away from armor but be in range if you are needed for revives, If they are safe. You have no real anti-armor capabilities (even though mass rockets can be effective in certain situations [distraction, can take APC's and Walker's out]).

Support

– 'EMP grenades! You have no reason not to carry these on any map that has armor. They can completely disable armor with a proper EMP lock so your teammates can handle the situation. Make sure you have a buddy to protect you when EMP locking as you should devote the majority of your attention to the lock (some to minimap).

Recon

– RDX can be quite risky but dead armor is good armor. Be careful of how you engage (uncloaking can give you away, best while armor is EMP’d)

Engineer

– This is your job. Motion Mines if you are afraid it’s going to get away, otherwise main weapon on a weak spot (Rear of the APC and Tank, Vents of the Walker) is best.

Make sure to apply the use of cover when engaging armor, just remember to be careful of cover that can let the splash damage get to you (i.e. you don’t want a wall right behind you when a tank/apc is shelling you)

[edit] Staying alive

Rockets

– Moving Laterally and Towards the Rocketer are best, It is tough but possible.

Grenades

– Tough to dodge if used properly, If you see it soon enough you can run away

Small Arms

– See first section. COVER!

Vehicle fire

– Cover and Avoidance, Other Armor
