[edit] Why would Tactical Gamer need a Mentoring program?
Every veteran TG member remembers finding Tactical Gamer, and why joining appealed to them, but perhaps they don't all remember how big TG is, and how much work it can take to get yourself oriented within our web site and forums to find the treasure trove of information, tools and community events for your games of choice.
For every member that stuck out that initial learning curve, how many have drifted away, unable to find the help they needed?
This program will be one more tool to help get new members oriented and help them become contributing members of the community. It will last a week or two for each student, or longer as they and their mentor decide. Mentors and their students will meet on TeamSpeak, in game, or wherever they find it most convenient. Mentors will explain the TG way, rules and sop's, forum use, setting up teamspeak, supporting membership, the IHS system, and anything else they find relevant to a new TG member.
When the mentorship concludes, the student will be left with a smoother understanding of TG then they could have found on their own, and they will have met a veteran they can contact whenever they have questions or need help.
In addition, as we get mentors from various different games, mentors can begin to teach their students what TG expects from them in game, and how to avoid the newbie mistakes for a much more enjoyable experience.
