[edit] Summary

Tactical OS is a Linux Distribution that is geared towards the Tactical Gamer community.

The core idea is to provide a free, mostly-open source, easy to use desktop, that can serve as a gaming platform alternative to Windows and Mac OSX.

What that means, for the average Windows user, is that within the limitations of current technology, as many windows applications as is possible should run on the Tactical OS desktop, with minimal configuration. Games, including DX9 games, should be playable with a minimal configuration as well.

What that means, for current Linux users, is that alot of the things expected of a Linux desktop have been rethought, and will continue to be rethought, as our primary focus is on the linux gamer and the XP abandonee. While linux server admins and generalists may see some value in our distribution, it's completely by chance.

[edit] Key features of Tactical OS
