Before you can play an online game in America's Army, you must first complete Basic Training. Your ultimate goal is to pass the Special Forces training, but take it one step at a time so you don't get too frustrated. Try playing the new maps that you qualify for after you complete each school as your reward for passing the school.

Make sure you are online & connected to your account before going to school, and also make sure you submit your results once you complete the training.

[edit] Basic Training

[edit] Marksmanship

This is the rifle range where you will shoot the M-16. You will first get 40 practice shots, then 40 shots that count. In order to qualify, you must hit at least 23 of the 40 targets. If you hit 30/40, you will be qualified as a sharpshooter, and 36 or more will make you an advanced marksman which you must do to qualify for advanced marksmanship / sniper school.

[edit] Shoot House

Targets are randomized throughout the shoothouse so you can't just memorize where the targets will pop up. Move quickly, shoot accurately (and only at the enemy!), and you should pass. It's recommended that you go back later and re-do this training to help you with enemy identification and shooting accuracy.

[edit] Combat Life Saver

This is the medic in the game. Once you pass the various parts of this course you'll be able to choose the medic class in the game so that you can heal your teammates. Healing your teammates helps you gain more experience points.

[edit] Advanced Marksmanship School

To qualify for this school, you must qualify as expert on the rifle range with a score of 36 or better.

In this school, you'll train and qualify on the M24 and M82A1 sniper rifles. You get just one shot to hit your target during qualifying, so take your time and make the shot count! Once you pass this school you'll be able to pick the sniper slot in the game.

[edit] Airborne School

Completing Airborne school allows you to play the Airborne maps in the game.

[edit] Ranger School

You must first complete Airborne School to go to Ranger School. You need to play Mountain Ambush and Swamp Raid online in order to get your Ranger tab. Afterwards, you'll be able to play on the other Ranger maps such as Weapons Cache and Radio Tower.

[edit] Special Forces Training

You must be Airborne qualified to attend SF school.

[edit] AVWID

The first part of this training is aircraft, vehicle, weapons identification (AVWID). Here are translations of the written tests if English is not your native language. PDF file showing the slides in the SF Training if you're having trouble viewing them.

[edit] Escape & Evasion

This is probably the hardest training mission in the game. You'll have to crawl around a course and avoid detection. Here is a good guide on the course.

Once you reach honor 15 in the game you will be able to pick an SF slot on SF maps and play on SF Exclusive maps. The SF slots make use of the SOPMOD rifle which you can modifiy in your personnel jacket.
