I went pubbing the other day on BF2142 and killed a guy about 20 times and his name started with "E1337". I whispered to him that he wasnt that leet.
Yeah, those kind of names just show arrogance and childness. But a name like E. Rommel fits well into this kind of game because it shows you know something about history and are mature and cultured enough to have a right to live.
The hungry, ignorant man immediately grasps that he is handed a fish, but is bewildered when handed a net. The man who shivers in the cold thinks happily of the man who invites him to sit by his fire, and somewhat poorly of the man who loans him an axe, flint and steel.
Well, the Massive team is not ignoring your thread, as [MSV]Gearhead said

Regarding abuse-reports and other players being offended by clan and player names/avatars, forum avatars , signatures or names, as you might be aware of, there are thousand of names and referances out there that will always be offensive to other people and that will always in some way stirr up emotions. Whether these accusations derive from nationality, political beliefs or even lack of historical knowledge is not the main issue at hand.
You see, there are many factors that comes into play when handling reports or complaints, many times even the most harmless name can upset another person and what action to take and where to take that complaint next is sometimes a very tough job. It often requires research from multiple sources and non-objective discussions, as one "expert's" opinion may very well contradict the next one's.
We don't ban or change player's names or avatars because we want to offend or "silence" someone, we simply try to make this place a friendly and abuse-free environment for our fans and players to enjoy. Our job is to make this place as enjoyable as possible for everyone, regardless of age, sexuality, race or nationality.
I will discuss this matter with the rest of the crew and we will return to you with more information shortly, we apologize if this matter has caused you to feel mistreated.
I hope you get your in game name back, and you probably will. The other day me and another TGer (can't remember who) reported a guy for having Rommel in his name, so lets see what Massive does to him
So close to Mexico I bathe in the Gulf and fish in the Rio Grande

IMO, it would be like catholics being upset over my name. It is silly, but some people cant take a joke.. It is just a game. Just a name.
Oh my your reference that Angel!?
Oh no! No No No NO!!!! This heresy will not stand in this great country of Seperatism of Church and State!
Geez, I had to throw a nonsense comment into this discussion.
As most have stated a major crash course in History is what that abuse team needs. If they even had a page out of a college History course. Atleast they could realize they are being ridiculous and absurd. I mean come one turn on the History Channel for crying out loud! They do run a nice piece on Rommel every couple of months.
We have discussed this matter and we have contacted the person whom it concerns with a solution. We apologize if this has caused anyone to feel mistreated.
We would also like to add that it is better if you deal with this kind of matters with us directly instead of posting them on the forums, even though you might not get an answer or solution to your problem right away, we are still aware of the problem and we will deal with it as fast as possible.
As interesting as this discussion might be, I'm now locking the thread.
