This game looks so awsum i wish i had a chance to play it like you guys, Any of you guys got some info you can share on the infantry side of the game, can you play as infantry and still be of use on the entire scale? What type of infantry are there to be made use of ?

Re: World in Conflict

Infantry are awesome, but you have to use their strengths.

Infantry are slow. In a team environment, you will rely on support for transport from your teammates. You are awesome in forests, as, for the most part, you are hidden from other units, but can still fire out. You have some AA ability, enough to scare the enemy helos away, and your AT ability is excellent.

In summary, use cover, always garrison buildings when possible, and move in cover when at all possible. I had great success in closed beta by moving in bounding overwatch, putting half my team in buildings while moving the others to forward positions, then repeating. Never move in the open. Tanks will squish you.

In short, infantry are my favorite role.

Re: World in Conflict

Wow thank you very much, so with this system do you get like a certain amount of infantry then you have to pick the troops that you want in your squad or hows it handled?

Re: World in Conflict

You start the round with 4000 points, which ticks up to a max of 6000 points. Everyone gets the same. You can pick a mix of infantry troop types. Going with a blend of Infantry (6 man squad, 1 AT, 1AA missile) and AT Infantry (5 man squad, 2 AT launchers), I normally was able to start round with 4 Inf, 2 AT squads and get another 4 - 6 units during the round. Generally about 10 infantry squads unless you used a lot of light vehicles for transport.

Re: World in Conflict

This game is sweet, but I was getting terrible fps on Vista, and then I downloaded some beta drivers that added better support just for World in Conflict. It gave me, about 5-6 more fps, but it still ran poorly, and this was not Vista problem, this was a super amazing graphic intense game that WiC is. It's incredible looking, just eats up CoH like you wouldn't believe, and that was last year's top notch graphic intense RTS. WiC takes this year by far. Anyway, I had to lower a few settings, shadows on the water made a difference.

This game is awesome at letting you tweak like 20 or more video settings. Just awesome. Once I did that, I was getting about 40-50fps in the
benchmark. It still looked great. Still very high settings, but always turning the select ones off that will kill your fps. Biggest problem for me is my resolution, 1680x1050, its a massive res, and requires alot juice.

I wish I could install it on both XP and Vista, but I wanted to see it in DX10, so I went Vista.

Re: World in Conflict

I have absolutely no idea how to play yet. RTS always have that learning curve. I was use to CoH's controls.
