Take the full URL of the image:
http://whatever.com/image.gif
and put it inside an [img] tag:
[imgXXXXX]http://whatever.com/image.gif[/imgXXXXX]

How do you display raw bbcode without having it evaluated? (Eg. for providing examples, both in source and what they generate.) In the past I've seen spaces around the brackets, but is there another trick to eliminate having to do that and having the text in the post clippable?

Check the Supporting Members forums, the Server Wish list, and there is a recent post there about it scratch monkey.
