Re: DKP system
I think one of the more important points made so far is that we're bettering the guild... not our toons.
the [item]Azuresong Mageblade[/item] Is the general item of contention.
Name says mage, Stats say Mage and or Pally... *ahem* tanking Paladin.
Which, as i'd like to point out, Only happens on ONE condition in Molten Core... Namely... all of the warriors and druids are dead.
hell, I've seen a rogue start tanking before a pally was given the go ahead.
While I agree that the Mageblade is a nice sword, and i would definately use it, I have no desire to waste my DKP on a sword like that, when i COULD be saving up to get my Judgement Set. (Which, right now, is rivaled only by Soulforge for +Spell Damage, as far as Plate sets go). I'd really rather a Mage have the stupid mageblade, so that we can down a boss faster, so i can get my Paladin gear. If all the mages in the raid have the sword, or don't want the sword, then, fine. I will gladly consider yanking that sword. Other hybrid classes should consider this concept too. The better you're geared for 40 man raids, the better our 40 man raids will go... The better our 40 man raids go, the faster people will get geared up, and then, suddenly, there's not going to be a whole lot of mages who Don't have the Mageblade, and other people will be able to roll on it.

Re: DKP system
Don't forget healing paladins would also benefit from that sword. This case is unique to the alliance because druids, priests, and shamans can't use swords and yet paladins can. So the question is will a paladin who heals and decurses benefit the raid more by getting this sword over a warlock or mage?
Will +1% chance to crit (count as a free heal with talent) and +29/18 healing for a paladin out weight the +damage and crit a mage or lock would get?
Of course you also have to consider personal preference in the mix as well with the priority. Arkamis apparently wants it, but Maneth doesn't. How many paladins would want this sword if their priority was raised to match the mage and locks and how many would get it over the mage and locks just because they can? And when I mean 'over' I mean with DKP or better rolls, not that they should get higher priority.Last edited by Tarenth; 05-11-2006 at 06:24 PM.

Re: DKP system
Speaking as a healing Paladin, I can say that the extra plus healing on that sword would not benefit a raid anymore than the extra damage a mage would get from it. Since pally heals are all under 3 second cast times, we don't get the full bonus of that +40. We get something like 89%. Granted, it does add up, BUT, a paladin with, say [item]Simone's Cultivating Hammer[/item] is getting almost the exact same amount of healing. (yes, i know, there's a difference but seriously... considering how so many paladins use lower level heals and stuff to save mana, they really have no need to be begging for +healing gear that comes with +damage as well.)
Good points though Tarenth. Thank you for actually knowing what you're talking about._________________

Re: DKP system
Lets roll with our system and see how it works out. I know there will be plenty of chances to tune the system. I am just very glad that our guild has put all the effort into building a DKP system.
THANKS!
Silchar (70 Retribution Paladin)
Lightshow (70 Holy Priest)
Wetstone (70 Marksman Hunter)
