Re: Shadow Word: Death ololz!
But thats the point Pistos, its an EXTREMELY weak talent for 35. The shadow 35 point talent increases crits on 2 spells by 15%, on the disc side, SW:Pain becomes a great raid tool increasing damage for everyone else, but +10% +healing requires a MASSIVE ammount in order to match a talent 10 points earlier in the tree.
Not worth it. I will be going 31/30 most likely to max out my healing while staying with talents worth their point values.Sajaman/|TG-Irr|Sajier - WoW Resto Shaman, BF2/BF2142 Assault/Medic

Re: Shadow Word: Death ololz!
Yea I wasn't disagreeing Saj. A talent that increases healing % of greater heal seemed to be a no brainer for the expansion. Its just an unfortunate placement. I realize that choosing between the trees is part of the deal with all classes so I can't really complain about that. Just wish the top end talents excited me some. The way it looks right now I'll probably spec 31/30 as well and give Power Infusion a try out. Maybe they'll tweak the trees some more before the final version is put out there. And if the Priest Shield Wall is castable on other players I may have to see about trying that out.

Re: Shadow Word: Death ololz!
Just a pointer guys...
There's probably not a whole lot of improvements to the 'raid healing' build because you won't need a ridiculous amount of buffage to handle 25 man raid groups. right now you're all specced to keep 40 people alive... fine. you have gear that lets you do that easily... chances are, the gear in BC will even out any of your problems with your talent trees, and keep you in top notch healing form for soloing and 25 man raids.
Don't forget. BC is going to be a slightly different game. it won't all be about raiding anymore._________________
I'm planning on respeccing to Irritation pretty soon. Granted, I'll lose the burst DPS from Pissing People Off Outright, but I'll get DoT's and higher damage through AoE's.

Re: Shadow Word: Death ololz!
That's true Manny. I guess we'll have to see how it all plays out. Its not like I think we're really going to see mass defections of priests (like the WoW Priests Forums would indicate) to other classes.
I think what you do have is a little bit of envy. I wasn't just looking for another buff to healing, but was hoping to see something really fun and innovative. Improved Divine Spirit is about the best it got.
But the talents aren't finalized yet and the content from BC might make it such that all this won't make any difference anyway. We'll just have to wait and see.
Soloing is a whole other issue. Kind of like Proc spec'd tanks. We'll have to see how the content of quests line up. An actual "grind" to 70 will be very slow for certain specs of certain classes. But I'm not going to start flipping out about that until I see a whole bunch of quests like "bring me 40 rare drops off Mob X".Gigan - Shaman (Resto)

Re: Shadow Word: Death ololz!
Look at the talents and spells this way. No matter what blizzard does they aren't going to please everyong. The new stuff personally fits in with how i've become an effective healer, and i don't mean to toot my own horn, but Reverent thought i was one of there best healers and it hurt them to see me go to Legacy, but then again, that's why i was so easy for me to get in there. You just have to learn to adapt at whatever crap blizzard throws at you. Also as you get more +healing gear your shields will absorb more and more damge. At current, my shields ward off around 1500 damage so reflective spell won't be to bad. As blizzard said this is a first draft and things as they always do may and probably will change

You're right Alava they can't please everyone. Some of the stuff looks to be nice and it still might get better. That's the best way to look at it. Its nice to hear they made at least one priest happy so far

Re: Shadow Word: Death ololz!
Talents and spells have been altered... in some cases quite dramatically.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/...t/talents.html
I think Saj and I will both probably have to stop complaining now...
Spirit of Redemption got a Spirit buff added and increased duration
Lolwell might actually be useful (2360 Health over 6 seconds)
Holy Concentration - Oooo very nice
41 pt Shadow Talent is much better now too - got rid of the silly shadow flash heal and added Vamperic Touch (party mana regen based on caster's shadow dmg)
And spells...
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/...st/spells.html
Dumped the little pet shades for a new shadowfiend that gives mana back to the priest - sure only lasts 15 seconds but I like it.Gigan - Shaman (Resto)

Re: Shadow Word: Death ololz!
HOLY *&(%)&*$)(%#&! WOOOHOOO Healing priests live again!!!
*does the happy dance*
Instant cast (half as powerful and half the mana)PoH! Free GH/Flash heal chance! Spirit of Redemption being far more meaningful! (spirit buff, and longer duration!) Even LOLwell being a bit more useful!
Even the changes to the Disc (Enlightenment, fix to Focused Power) and Shadow (Focused mind-the mana reduction one, and Vampiric Touch) look great.
Overall this is a MUCH better set of talents, and all of my excitement I had prior to the talent release has been restored. I think this is definitely going to make mix and match priests far less used, I think you will definitely see deep holy specs and deep disc specs, fewer priests with the prayer of spirit in order to get the 41 point holy talent.
I am so happy

Re: Shadow Word: Death ololz!
Both 41 point Holy and Shadow are much better now -- imo. Until Blizz says otherwise it appears that the Disc 41 is self only so I see limited usefulness in PVE, though in PVP it would be very helpful.
I haven't crunched the #s myself but I'd like to see what kind of mana regen a 41 point Shadow priest could do for a group of casters.
Having a real hard time now figuring out a build... that makes me happy.
The +5% spirit addition to SoR is sweet and while Holy Concentration is only a 6% chance I would imagine it would still be worth it. Any idea what % of +healing you'd get for an instant cast AoE? I guess it would be the same as an instant cast AoE damage spell for mages...
I have to say a 41 point Healing Spec looks pretty nice at the moment.Gigan - Shaman (Resto)

Re: Shadow Word: Death ololz!
Ok, something I missed in this is the massive change to Holy Reach.
Here is the new tooltip:
Increases the range of your Smite and Holy Fire spells and the radius of your Prayer of Healing, Holy Nova, and Circle of Healing spells by 10%(20%).
This means that GH and Flash heal no longer can be outside most Fear/AoE ranges. Something to think about for raid leaders down the road when planning strats.
I am about to go rebuild my spec to drop this talent because the whole reason I took it was to get the extra 10 yards on GH/Flash.Sajaman/|TG-Irr|Sajier - WoW Resto Shaman, BF2/BF2142 Assault/Medic

Re: Shadow Word: Death ololz!
Holy Reach never affected healing spells though so it really isn't a change.
Old Tooltip:
Increases the range of your Smite and Holy Fire spells and the radius of your Prayer of Healing and Holy Nova spells by 10/20%
I never really speced for it because while extra long smites and holy fire is good for soloing and PvP, the extra 6 yards of Prayer of Healing and 2 yards of Holy Nova just didn't seem worth it for spells I rarely use.
Something I found amusing was the interesting PvP implications of Pain Supression and PW: Death. Observe:
PW:Shield, Renew, Pain Supression, PW: Death, PW: Death, PW: Death, PW: Death, PW: Death, PW: Death, PW: Death.
Total damage done: 4200
Total damage taken: 1440
Some, if not all, being mitigated by Renew ticks and your shield absorbing.
Basically you meet a disc priest in PvP alone you're going to be dead in less than 20 seconds if they have their cooldown open.My sanity is not in question...
It was a confirmed casualty some time ago.
Light, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I had to kill because they ticked me off.
