Here is the thinking behind some of the choices, more like "themes".
Broad themes...improved rage generation, efficient rage usage, spell interrupt, good "oh crap" benefits.
1. Reduce rage costs (improved heroic strike, reduced offensive rage cost) to maximize rage benefits.
2. Improved thunderclap for better damage mitigation and faster group aggro production
3. Skip the extra defense bonus since itemization has me well beyond 490 defense already. Gem choices are all +stamina, btw.
4. Improved shield bash for spell interrupts...priceless!
5. Maximize (!) damage (+crit, one-hand specialization) for rage generation. Similarly, improved bloodrage for rage generation.
6. Last stand and improved shield wall for those moments when you need it (and have time to actually use them).Beep

To be honest i never thought the crit and dmg bonus was worth it. but i found this calculator (2 different ones actually) that shows the difference.

as a note when i was looking at delg on the mitigation one i was 76.something.. but looking at the next 2 upgrades i should be getting will jump me up by about 10% which will be real nice.FOR THE DICKENS!!!
