I may be confused, but warrior damage in defensive stance and druid damage in bear form would seem likely to produce roughly the same amount of threat per damage point.

Warrior "spells" (e.g. sunder armor) also have some scalable bonus (e.g. talent +aggro modifier) that I think are working. Shield slam also can crit and have additional damage attached to it that would also scale aggro.

I'm not trying to argue that warriors in defensive stance are better than druid in bear form, only that they are similar. If a druid in bear form outdamages a prot spec warrior, you are almost certain to generate more aggro.

I noticed this last night with Vael. If I'm in Battle stance getting ready to spam executes, I will hardly show up on the threatmeter. The only way I was able to work up the threat I needed, was to be in Defensive stance. The problem I found there was as soon as we got him to 20%, I switched over to execute, and it was suddenly my turn to tank. I didn't have enough time to get back into Def Stance before I died. Just one more thing to work out the timing on I suppose.

Before Vael hits 20% warriors should be in Defensive Stance doing their best to build aggro. Once Vael hits 20% you all should have enough threat to switch to battle stance and spam full rage executes. Execute doesn't care about your weapon so being in tank gear doesn't hurt your executes. A crit full rage execute can hit for thousands of damage, lots of threat there.

That wasn't a tanking issue alone. The "handoff" of tanking requires the healers to know which tank is next ...and have to target them and then spam heals EARLY to keep them up. If that timing is even 2 sec late, the warriors will go down in nearly 1 or 2 shots one right after the other.

Our last Vael attempt was "handicapped" by the relatively small number of healers (both priests and pallys), so that the MT needed healing...and the MT2 needed healing to be able to take over...and we didn't quite have enough to go around.

notice that on crebis' big post above ( quoting big posts FTL ) hunters have NO aggro reducing abilities whatsoever (ok... Feign Death) weather it be passive (-20% threat(like rogues))... they DO however have an aggro-inducing attack called Distracting shot.. which produces a flat 600 threat at highest rank
