Xbox 360™ Wireless Networking Adapter Alternative

For those of you who have not yet joined Xbox Live and are thinking of buying the Xbox 360™ Wireless Networking Adapter ($99) or other brand of network adapter, you might want to look at the link below first. This is mainly for people who have a laptop that connects to the internet via wireless in the house.

I was sitting on my couch with my laptop last week researching alternatives to the overpriced MS brand adapter. I also didn't want to run over a 100' of ethernet cable to my router so I needed to find an easier way to connect my Xbox. I followed the steps in described below and within 10 minutes I was connected. Basically you run a ethernet cable from your laptop to your 360 and then bridge the two connections. Then your 360 is receiving a internet signal and you can join XBL. Has worked like a charm for me without having to buy extra hardware.

Your encouraging me to become a post-whore? lol Over at pcmech forums (where I get all my PC building info) I have been a member for about 3 years and only have just over 100 posts. I'm a bit reserved but I guess I could try harder.

    Definetly need to try harder.

I'm a hard wired guy myself. I have about 5 feet of CAT-5 running from the modem/router combo to my 360. But if you have no other feasible option.... Oh well!

I still might get under the house and run CAT-5 from 360 to router. It would be a better connection thats for sure. I might wait till spring before I do that though...a bit too chilly this time of year to be slithering around on my belly down there.
