Re: COD4 TG squad sign-up
Yeah it was great. Here is the debrief I was meaning to post the other day but got distracted. I'm heading online in about 30 min. or so.
Squeak-I hear you. Console doesn't lend itself as readily to the TG Primer as PC, but in game we watered-down the real-world tactics when it was necessary to maintain the feasibility and enjoyment in the console environment.
Debrief:
Last night's event was a resounding success for a first practice. Seven Wolves, Astrocat and myself were in attendance. We practiced both successive and alternate bounding in 2 and 3 man teams in the open on Pipeline. We adapted the tactic to faster pace of COD4 by practicing these drills at varying speeds. Faster more aggressive 2-man sprinting successive bounds, and slower but cautious 'sights-up' alternate bounds.
When we switch to 3 man team with the 3rd man as rear guard we had difficulty with squad cohesion. One of the problems was communicating when he should bound forward with the group since he is rear facing and cannot see the groups' bounding. The preliminary technique we found most useful in more open maps like Pipeline was to bound with fixed timing.
Basically each alternating movement is a 3-count sprinting bound. In a 3-man drill, these alternating bounds would be a 2-1 bounding scheme. 2 men move then other 1 man moves. The pacing every 3 counts they bound in alternating fashion until they are in contact with the enemy.
This fixed timing allowed 1 man in the squad to focus rear at all times without having to turn around to see when it is his time to bound and thus expose the squad's rear. Fairly advanced but it allows for fast bounding with good all-around security. But it will take more practice to refine.
The next phase was for close-quarters combat(CQC) movement in Vacant.
We again adopted a 3 man squad. Each man had a position or number in the squad. The #1 position was the point man(TG ABRA). The #2 was the rear guard(AstroCat). And the #3 positon was the support element(SevenWolves). The tactics we practiced were complex and coordinated yet we seemed to learn them quickly.
The basic traveling formation to move forward down a hallway worked well. But the more exciting drill was the corner and intersection crossing drill which we were able to execute with surprising panache for a first practice. All in all we were totally looking all SWAT/SEAL team style moving through the halls of Vacant.Xbox Live Gamertag: TG ABRA

Re: COD4 TG squad sign-up
I think I'll tentatively suggest another practice/game for-
Tuesday 9pm Eastern
-if that works for you guys. Let me know if you plan on making it and suggest alternate times and such. Same curriculum, solidifying it for Astro And Seven Wolves if they come, introducing it before we take it online for everyone else.
Some logistical lessons learned to get us in the same match and on the same voice channel in game:
-Message me at the appointed time if you can't find us, message me again if I don't respond in a minute or so. You stay online, I will find you!
-Join the same team as TG ABRA and everyone else so we can hear each other. We train with friendly fire.
-To speak between team leaders, each join a separate private chat channel through XBL.
-In online public matches, we need to be in a separate chat channel so as not to spam our team's channel(unless we can muster 5-6 people in the party). To do this, break into buddy pairs and use private chat channels, again in XBL(XBox LIVE).
-After you die in an online match use deathcam to find your pair buddy so you can link up with him when you respawn. Use same method to locate other TG fireteams and link up.
-*Untested* - I heard a rumor that in the XBL's Dashboard you can set an account/system option to only be able to voice chat other friends in game. Non-friends can't hear you, you can't hear them. If this is true and we can use it, we could all share a channel in online play in matches and practices.Xbox Live Gamertag: TG ABRA

Re: COD4 TG squad sign-up
would love to but all of a sudden my xbox live doesnt work. I was only on the month package cause i just got it. But a quick question. If i set up my live on the 25th of december, when january comes around, does it just cancel it or do i actually get 30 days irreguardless whether it is the end of the month or not? Cause i had live on the 30 of december last time i played and after the new year, nothing. Doesnt work.

Re: COD4 TG squad sign-up
I'll probably not be able to make it next Friday but you guys should totally do it anyway. Sythos just name a time on Friday. Don't worry about asking when people can make it. At least a few people will make time to be there no matter what time you set. Even if it's not an optimal time, posting it earlier rather than later is the important thing since it gives people enough notice to make it happen.
Good hustle guys, glad to see so many people taking an interest. I'm a little distracted with Assassin's Creed, but I'll be online.Xbox Live Gamertag: TG ABRA
