  • Teamwork: The Core Value of Tactical Gamer

    Online communities such as Tactical Gamer have complex social structures and widely shared values. The following video essay by Dr. Strangelove (a.k.a. [TG] E-Male) looks at how the structure of the Tactical Gamer leads to a core value of teamwork within the community. This structure includes the codification of values in the TG Primer, the authority of game administrators, and the small groups known as in house squads.

      Thanks MikeAp. I have been using fireteams for a few years now. This was not my finest moment, but I was using them as Bravo and Alpha. Alpha and Bravo fireteams are a standard operating procedure for TG-UN, and I am always working on improving the communication of this SOP to the new men in my squads. As it happens, most TGers get it and very quickly fall in line.

      I've found in the past that assigning certain members of your squad to Fireteam A, B works in some instances, where another Squad responding to a CO's request, simply needs more assistance at a particular Defend or Attack task. When you have multiple squads that are actually being squad-lead - this procedure works well.

      However, if you find that the squad must constantly be split apart, this may be an indication that the Squad itself should be split into two separate units. This usually occurs as players either drop off toward the end of the evening, or when the server is being seeded. There aren't enough actual Squads working the objectives, leaving two, or even just one, Squad to be the only one focusing on objectives.
