1994 !!! That's two lifetimes ago for the internet.
I'm curious--what is the biggest surprise that you didn't see coming in 1994?
No one saw the Web coming (outside of CERN -- it was a EU invention). When I saw the first broswer in action (Mosaic) in 1994 it made me think that my business was doomed (I was right -- it destroyed the buiness newsletter industry first, then the magazine industry, then newspapers).
I knew that online video was coming someday but was suprised to see it happen so fast 2005-2010.
I do not try to foresee where the Net and technology is taking us -- futurecasting is not science -- I just try to understand what the heck is happening now . . .
I started Strangelove Internet Enterprises in 1991, three years before the Web. Nothing worse for business than being too far ahead of your time.
Should have invented a method of posting pictures of pretty coed students.
Every five years or so the Internet has tranformed itself. We are almost due for the next big thing.
