  • [AAR] AAR Request: Sunday night 1/6 50 minute marathon on Tram

I have trouble absorbing details of these games as I'm so focused on playing. We started as marines in the southern point(shipping?), then quickly expanded to elevator and repair. We lost the elevator chair once or twice, repair once, survived Onos assaults, lost several EXO, and eventually won by escorting a massive ARC chain around the map. Halfway through, we were losing our 2nd CC so I pulled a Dual EXO just before it went down to help hold what little of the map we had at that point. I finally got to try jetpack+flamethrower and that is a great pair for general harassment.

Can anyone else who was in that game elaborate? IIRC, Wyz was commanding and did an amazing job. Everyone on the team was talking and contributing. I'm sure we made a great impression on the few newbies in the server. Marine wins feel very hard-fought on this build.

All I remember about that game was killing 2 or 3 EXOs with lerk spikes. That was fun stuff

We eventually pushed to hold Server, Warehouse, and Repair. Once the ARC trains started their relentless push alongside marine pressure, we were entirely on the defensive and couldn't mount an effective counter assault on the marine bases as we were pushed simultaneously on all three hives. While we wiped out several arc trains and marine pushes, we were worn down until we lost a hive, then while trying to rebuild we lost another, and eventually whittled down to where we didn't have the upgrades to fight back with a single hive.

Power nodes are the asymmetrical counter to lost hives, e.g. upgrades can be lost if they are all on a power node like Bile Bomb and Stomp can be lost with hives. Hives take longer to go down, but longer to get back up as well.

It was a well fought game, only passed in duration by the next map where I had to head out at 70 minutes while it was still an even battle.

Not to derail this thread, but that game ended in a marine loss after another 30 minutes or so.

Yup, wyz crashed a couple times which hindered marine progress to a small degree, but I think that by the time we had nano back, three onos and several gorges, we were pretty much a shoe-in.

Loosing a comm can be bad. You can tell when you see, "Wyz/Donat is now playing NS" it makes it a great time to attack marines :p

If this is the game I was thinking about. Marines started in Server Room. Our hive was in Warehouse. When we realized this, we waited enough time for the marines to get out, then rushed and cleared server prompting a relocate to Elevator.

Then we did the same thing again, relocating to I think repair.

Then we did the same thing again, prompting the final relocate into Shipping, were the Marines finally realized that they had to stick around at their base before the wave of skulks got there and forced them to do the same thing again.

Then it was just a long, but fun draw out game that finally came out to a lack of res on the aliens part to replace lifeforms. Both teams were very closely matched skillwise, and Wyz did a far better job at killing our res towers then we did to his.

That, and ARCs kill towers fairly quickly with little danger to them, unlike our little skulks that had to be out hitting their team.

No time for AAR atm, but wanna throw out mad props to the alien team in this game. We threw hell at them, and they never backed down.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.
