  • I hate being an ahole sometimes

Sometimes I hate getting so into the game that you loose perspective and forget you are suppose to have fun. Then I get annoyed at myself for acting like an arsh. I sometimes wonder if games are more fun when you are new to them as u don't take them as seriously. Most times I am having fun and I joke around a lot as an arsh, though on rare occasions I think I can take this game to seriously. Sorry if I act like a jerk to anyone. I have to give some people credit around here as they have a lot of paitence.

Herein lies the problem with these kinds of games. DotA and NS2 have one major thing in common: They are serious time commitments that involve relying on other people sometimes to enjoy yourself. 99% of the time, they can be just plain fun and you can laugh it off when playing with the right people. That other 1% though, that one time when you could have won if just one person did one thing differently in a major team fight, it is the most frustrating thing on earth. You're only human, humans get frustrated.

Re: I hate being an ahole sometimes

When I'm playing a game I always ask myself two things:

        1. Am I not having fun
        2.Is the game angering/annoying me

If I answer yes to either of these questions I stop playing the game(or finish the round and then quit). Games are meant to be enjoyed, if you aren't having fun you may as well be doing something else with your time. Having a negative attitude in a game like NS2 or DOTA can lessen your fellow players enjoyment of it. I know I tend to have less fun when one of my teammates is cranky or the commander is making sarcastic comments about the teams ability. So, if you aren't enjoying yourself just go do something else. You will be doing both yourself and your teammates a favor.

I agree with the previous posts and sometimes it's just best to say what you're thinking but neglect to press the mic key.

I recently told another community member who was struggling to keep a positive attitude: "Be nice. Have fun. Keep things positive as best you can. Consider what fun those around you are having as you play alongside them."

Accepting that we all fail sometimes, vocalizing our regrets of being an ******* is navel-gazing drama. Controlling ourselves when we're frustrated is far more interesting.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Re: I hate being an ahole sometimes

Thankfully with NS2, if I am getting frustrated it is easy for me to hop off. Other games are so addictive I sometimes force myself to play them even when they are frustrating me, which is stupid and unhealthy.

Re: I hate being an ahole sometimes

A couple rough rounds can easily spoil my NS for the night. I'll finish out a round then move on to something else. Fortunately, I have an enormous backlog of crap I bought during the steam sale.

There's really nothing much wrong with "ragequitting" if you can bow out quietly without affecting the team too much.

Solarity, have you considered ARMA? Just curious.

I own it and feel $30 poorer, should always wait for the sales. The Zombie mod wasn't my cup of tea, though I have to give priceline credit for taking the time to show me the ropes. On a positive note I didn't frag him by accident. I normally like the more complex realistic games, though not the biggest fan of spending a good portion of my time in transit. I need to drop my game if my fiance needs me NS is a bit easier save the long games.

Age of Chivalry is great for any amount of time - an entire evening or just a few quick maps.

No problem I consider myself to have a good sense of humor, sometimes a lot of people don't get that I am joking around. I do bust chops.
