I am not expecting you to troubleshoot this network, I would like to know why VAC is having connectivity issues when all the requirements are met.

Are CISCO CATALYST ROUTERS and SWITCHES compatible with VAC? Does VAC broadcast like a Virus or Malware on the network?

Does Vac broadcast like a Virus or Malware on the network? This is a VAC connectivity issue, and VAC is being specificaly blocked. All Firewalls have been setup to allow full TCP/UDP ports for HL.

These are the questions Ive needed answers to, and have yet to recieve them.

    Hello,

This is a connectivity issue, I am sorry, but there is no way we could troubleshoot your schools network, at some point data is either becoming corrupt, or blocked. This is usually caused by either a Router, or a Firewall. Please try bypassing your router completely, if the game works properly then you most likely have incompatible router firmware and will need to update it. If the problem persists even when the router is bypassed then this problem is most likely being caused by your firewall.

You need to go to the firewall permissions and remove all references to steaminstall.exe, steam.exe, all instances of hl.exe and hl2.exe and allow them to be re-learned.

Be sure to give permission for all ports and TCP and UDP when the firewall asks. If the Firewall does NOT ask then you may have the firewall settings set too high and you'll need to lower them.

I am on a network, located behind a School Controlled Firewall. The Firewall is correctly setup to allow all Steam and HL traffic through. My own personal PC is not Blocking Steam or HL. I connect and play FINE on non-vac secured servers. I connect FINE and am able to play for a minimal amount of time to VAC secured servers, when I recieve the "No steam logon" error AFTER being connected and AFTER having played for an amount of time.

The issue does not apply to my system.
The issue does not apply to the Firewall setup.

The issue is with VAC secured servers only. Something (some sort of handshaking/VAC check) is being considered malicious, or VAC is being used on a separate port. Please advise.

    Hello,

If this problem is not caused by your router, then it would be some sort of spyware, firewall, or AV software blocking ports on your system. You will need to review your system set up to troubleshoot this issue.

    Hello,

The Firewall is correctly setup. This is not a firewall issue.

    Hello,

You will need to review the FAQ and get access for the ports required by Steam in order to correct this issue.

I am behind a firewall that I have no physical control over, however, If I can identify the differences between VAC and NON VAC servers and confront the schools ITS department it may get changed.

Simply telling me to correctly set a firewall does NOT resolve this issue.

In reference to Answer: ID 374

Im behind my Schools Firewall, and I get kicked mid game for "No Steam Logon" on Vac secured servers.

Does VAC require a seperate port or have virus like signatures on the network? How can VAC be identified as network traffic so it isnt blocked?

Our Network (Firewall) is primarily Cisco and Norton technologies to monitor the network for viruses/malware.
