    These rules are a culmination of the past years of Captain's Nights. You will be expected to fully read and agree to these rules prior to playing on any given Captain's Night. Failure to abide by the rules will result in loss of Captain's Night privileges or even disciplinary action from weekly play as the consequences are located throughout the rules laid out below. Anyone that may have a question is free to respond to this thread or to message me in Steam for clarification.

    Here are the rules:

    As it has always been, captain's night is always at 7pm CST every Friday night. The designated server for that night will be posted in THE FORUMS along with the password for entry. Both server and password will be posted approximately 20 minutes prior to start time which is 7pm CST. Not that many need it now, but I'll also execute the sh_broadcast to the other server to let those know of start time as a reminder. I know many of you are friends with me on Steam, but the forums are where you'll be expected to get the password from now on to start the night. Also, Iíd highly suggest joining the TGNSCN Steam Group (Steam Community :: Group :: Tactical Gamer NS2 Captains Night) for a calendar reminder.

    For captain's night you'll be excepted to play BOTH rounds of a map; if there are enough people to fill the 16 slots that want to play both sides, DO NOT opt into captains if you cannot play both rounds. If you are caught rage quitting mid-way through a round or leaving a map prior to conclusion to play another game then you will not be permitted to play in captain's night the rest of the night or the following week. Emergencies that require you to leave are allowed yet please inform your team or captain of your predicament prior to leaving; leaving mid round because it's now time for dinner or because your friends showed up to go out is not an emergency.

    Selected Captains:
    There are minimum requirements to be a captain on Captainís Night. Viable captains must have achieved one of the following badges : Competitor - Silver (Play 50 games of at least 10 minutes each), Victor - Bronze (Win 25 captains rounds), Warrior - Bronze (Play 50 captains rounds), Chieftan Ė Bronze (Win 15 rounds as a captain), or Lord of War Ė Bronze (Win 5 captains rounds as a commander). This can be proven by showing the appropriate badge prior to captain selection. If you're not sure what badges you have obtained, you can do so by logging in with your steam information to (Home - TGNS Portal) to select the appropriate badge. Please understand that if you earn higher levels of these badges that youíll need to select the higher level badge to be displayed as the higher level badge will not automatically be shown once earned. Earning these badges must require at least the same 8 primers to attend a game from start to finish. Captains may not be able to be a captain for consecutive maps depending on time of night; we encourage diversity of captains as to include variety in team selection.

    Opting In:
    Upon the start of the night or map change please wait to opt into captain's mode a few minutes so that others can fully connect. There is no need to opt into captain's prior to 7pm CST; we will start the map vote promptly at 7pm CST so please make sure you are connected to the server beforehand. There will be a natural 2 minute break for food / bathroom necessities after map changes, so once again do not opt into the captain's mode immediate upon connecting to a new map so that A) we can let everyone connect B) people can use the restroom or get a snack prior to a vote; this is so people aren't AFK during the selection process and pregame. If you lose your spot due to the afk timer during the selection process/pregame you may lose your captains privileges for the rest of the night. Supporting members now have the option to opt into captains before two captains have come forth to initiate a vote, you can do so through the Shine menu. Captain's from the previous map share the pre-game opt-in privilege of a supporting member for the very next map; this option requires play for the full duration of the previous map to qualify and also expires if not used the following map (i.e if you captains on tram and the next map is veil, you only have the opportunity to opt-in pre-game on veil). Make sure to change your name prior to opting in to your most recognizable name so that captain's can correctly identify you; name changing (within the confines of the primer rules) is acceptable after the selection process but you MUST respond to said name, otherwise you'll face removal from captains.

    Selection Process:
    This is classified as opting into the captain's mode. Once a vote successfully passes, the teams are created. During this time, the only communication on voice com should be that of the selected captain's or admins; feel free to type but leave voice com silent. If you are selected as a captain, please observe the right hand of the screen to view viable candidates for selection (only the captains have the ability to view players ranked by hive stats in the left to right/ top to bottom ordering). If you do not want to play or cannot play, please immediately disconnect or move into spectate. Teams will be picked by captains. The first captain to pick will select their team and not a player, the second captain to pick will select their first player. The captains will then alternate picking one player at a time until their respective teams have 8 players including themselves. Captains should be sure that during the selection process to announce a playerís name and the team you want them to join. Mirage will reserve the right to initiate a re-pick for the two captains in the event that teams appear too stacked. Mirage will also be available to uninitiated captains that would like help with their picks. If there are not 16 people willing to play at the time of selection and a player comes forth that would like to fill the team ranks, both captains will be given the option of re-picking teams within the pre-game time or within the first 2 minutes of play; after which 2 minutes has expired during play, the teamís captain that is short more players will get the option of selecting which player theyíd like to fill in on their team from newly available candidates. If you are caught deliberately going AFK or joining spectate to avoid the selection process to then join teams after the timer, youíll lose your Captainís Night privileges for 2 weeks.

    This is for people waiting for a free slot to play or those that genuinely want to watch gameplay. Please remember to keep any tactical information out of the primer chat during gameplay; feel free to talk amongst your other spectating companions about gameplay in the spectate chat. If you are a spectator and want to play, please wait till a team requests your assistance in filling a spot; doing so prior may cause a disruption in gameplay as a player may have been disconnected but is in the process of reconnecting. Once captain's mode has been activated you can only rejoin a full server when the sh_fullspec mode has been executed prior to connection; this means that if you want to join either server when they are full on captain's night, make sure you've executed the sh_fullspec command in your console while on the server, by selecting the same command through the shine menu, or logging into the TGNS portal (Home - TGNS Portal) .

    Please remember that even during captain's night you'll be expected to adhere to the full rules of the TGNS primer; any disrespect or excessive foul language will met with repercussions. Remember that most games are recorded so not only will your misconduct stand out to others but to the admins as well. To ensure we have great matches, please make sure you are cooperating with your team, not AFKing, communicating, and using teamwork to execute solid gameplay; failure to do so will result in removal of Captainís Night privileges for that night and disciplinary action upon further transgressions. In the event that you would like to concede, please use the surrender option in the Shine menu. Whining and passive aggressive behavior to induce a team concede will not be tolerated.

    Players usually post a link to the previous night's gameplay the following morning from those that were able to capture gameplay footage.

    Steam Group and personal invites:
    Later in the night I will usually send out invitations to players that are not connected to the server that may be interested in filling a slot during captain's night. First I will announce the free slots to the Steam Group (Steam Community :: Group :: Tactical Gamer NS2 Captains Night), then broadcast to the other server, and then finally initiate personal invites on Steam. Feel free to add me as a friend on Steam so that you can receive these types of invites; my name is miragezors on Steam.

    Captainís Night Conclusion:
    After Captainís Night has concluded, Mirage holds a roundtable for gameplay discussion, questions, and suggestions for future captainís nights. Anyone is invited to participate in this dialog.
