The TGNS server is running 3.1.1. There is no client update for this. It's all server side. You needn't download anything.

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

What do you mean? The bugfix is 2 sound files that weren't being checked. Now they are. That's what is with it.

The cvar mp_consistency checks to see if the client files differ from the server. If mp_consistency is set to "1" and the files differ, then the server boots the client off. Im questioning why these particular wav files were included in the check now...
Were they abused on servers with the cvar enabled? Or something else?

They are "Lets move out" and "Lets go"...
The only thing that I can think that's special about them is they get played at the start of the round, but I still don't know how that could be exploited.

FWIW, the CVAR is called mp_consistency and not mp_preventexploits. I mean, there's something to be said for being... consistent... in your... consistency enforcement? Maybe?

Then why wouldnt they have just done that from the start? Those aren't new wavs or features. I can speculate cant I? It is a FREE INTERWEB :icon26: !

Speculate all you want. :) I'd just hate for the devs to have to provide a reason other than "consistency" when enforcing the consistency of "stuff" with a CVAR called "consistency."

Well, pretty much the only purpose of mp_consistency is to prevent clientside exploits like spiked models, louder footstep sounds, invisible devour sprite, etc. They're not just trying to enforce uniformity for no reason.

And yeah, I really don't know what's exploitable about those. Were the other emotes already consistency enforced?

Given that, I suppose one could argue that choosing to do so with a CVAR named "consistency" was a poor design decision.

Does anyone know the URL for the ns bug tracker? It changed after the site went down and I can't find the new one. I'd like to look up this consistency business in there and see if there's more details.

Wyzcrak is getting a little defensive... maybe too many people were replacing ssay82 with wyzporn.wav.

Hmm, not a bad idea. Any chance we could disable consistency? :P

                              That wav file doesn't exist.

                              I hate you all.
