I've been recording to do some self-scouting - seeing lots of correctable problems which is great. Biggest thing I need to work on is being disciplined around maintaining my keep-away zones on Winston and Roadhog.

Anyway - figured I'd post them since I recorded em... these guys weren't good, particularly their Hog, so I got away with some stupid stuff that wouldn't fly at SR > ~2700

My perspective on Lucio is a dead Lucio is a bad lucio. While he can be rewarded at times for taking risks I tend to rarely take those risks. I prefer to hang behind my teammates in a position that keeps me safe while maximizing my ability aura.

So things to work on from the perspective:

                        - Standing still in areas where enemy has line of sight. Link 1 against the widow near start for example. Peaking into zones of crossfire with 200 health characters is generally just a bad idea. All it takes is one good hook, junk nade, soldier rocket, widow shot, hanzo arrow, etc and your dead. Unless your behind the rein shield or you know there isn't any characters that could instantly kill you then I wouldn't risk the peak to try to put out the little extra damage lucio can do.
                        - As you alude to - know who you need to keep away from and be disciplined in doing just that. It is usually just too risky trying to be annoying to characters like roadhog, mei, mcree, hanzo, etc
                        - Something with your general movement I noticed is that you don't tend to move in circular motion much - especially around corners. Work on rounding corners more so you see whats there earlier. Also think of yourself as like the ball on a pendulum and your teammate(s) are the pivot point always in front of you that you keep watch on. Move left or right around them to keep yourself within aura range, but protected or out of sight from the enemy. The more teammates you see in front of you the better your decision making will be on when to amp it up or ult.
                        - For lucio or really any character you really should survey the environment around you more. A quick glance left and right here and there can help your situational awareness. Not needed as much if your doing the previous point.
                        - Lucio is really good for protecting teammates(specifically the second healer) against dives or flankers. Your aura and boop can keep that friendly alive.

yeah, my first impression was 'wtf am I doing trading shots w/ widow' LOL. I mean I know what I was doing - I was just trying to bother her and make her go heal, but... yeah, super dumb risk/reward decision there xD (FWIW, lucio's LMB puts out 64 damage per burst (4x16), with chance of doubling that on headshots. It's not insignificant against 200hp class heroes.)

                          - As you alude to - know who you need to keep away from and be disciplined in doing just that. It is usually just too risky trying to be annoying to characters like roadhog, mei, mcree, hanzo, etc
I've been getting a LOT better about this since I've made it an explicit thing to focus on - tracking hook cooldowns, especially. (I actually don't have too much trouble with mei, unless she's an RMB assasin. boop+speed aura get you out of freeze range) Main area to work on here is giving more respect to Winston and new Pharah. There were a couple of instances in these vids where I actually initiate w/ a Winston. <slap!> bad Whiskey! I'm sure you saw me lucky 4-5 times in these clips because the hog was garbage.

I watched it back and still don't quite see what you mean, even after you explained it. Do you have a timestamp to look at? (Generally I did notice that the recording makes the movements looks weirdly "smooth" - as if I'm using a controller instead of MKB.. not sure what that's about.

10/10 recommendation. I know that when I'm playing lucio I have a little too high confidence in my SA. In retrospect, a high percentage of my deaths (as lucio anyway) are because of surprises with respect to enemy positioning. That said, I've really been trying to work on this, especially when it comes to retreating from lost team fights.

                          - Lucio is really good for protecting teammates(specifically the second healer) against dives or flankers. Your aura and boop can keep that friendly alive.
Agreed. The situations I'm generally looking for (and what I generally do):

                          - Friendly chasing a retreating enemy (AiU speed + help w/ damage)
                          - Low health friendly in CQB (boop to make space, spray damage, and AiU health [or speed if there's cover they can get to])
                          - Over extended friendly (voice-call out to come back and AiU speed)
                          - Enemy near cliff (boop)
                          - Enemy that can be moved into an overextended position so we can kill them. (boop away from their team)
                          - Rein charging or about to charge (boop off-target)
                          - Ults that can be mitigated with AiU speed (mei, mcree, soldier, pharah, dva, hanzo, junk)
                          - Ults that can be mitigated w/ Sonic Barrier (zarya, genji (kinda), junk, pharah,
                          - Ults that can be mitigated with boop (reaper (kinda), genji (kinda), soldier (situationally if you can move him offline)
                          - Initiating a team fight or "getting over the hump" in a team-fight (sonic barrier)
                          - Taxiing back from spawn
                          - Harassing/Breaking enemy focus (spam damage from high-ground, generally be annoying)
                          - Protect sleeping friendlies (i think of this like being a rodeo clown)

Nice. Actually a pretty good strat to save tracer bomb if you think Orisa will use ult. Can kill the ult plus rest of team more likely grouped up
