  • Things to do in Boston...

Hey guys, my girlfriend and I are going on vacation from August 1st - 4th in Boston, MA.

Here's our list of things to do! I've been to some of these, but haven't been to all - she's hardly been to any...

    USS Constitution
    New England Aquarium
    Museum of Fine Arts
    Museum of Science
    Old State House
    Quincy Market
    Boston Light
    Sam Adams Brewery
    JFK Presidential Museum
Boston Public Library (hey, it's the oldest in the nation...)
    Bunker Hill

    Outdoors stuff:

    Boston by Foot
    Freedom Trail

Of course, this is a pretty big list. But for any of you who live in the Boston area, please, share some awesome restaurants (preferably cheap!), places to visit, etc.

Drink is a really cool bar to take her for some cocktails.

Newport, RI is only a short trip south too! If you get adventurous, that is.

        Title Town will welcome you.

Bar and Music scene is Awesome! Pick up a Phoenix paper when you get there, or check this http://thephoenix.com/boston/music/

Newberry Street, cool area, good restaurants, and shopping, or just walking around.

Landsdown Street, right behind Fenway. Even if you don't go to a game. Home of "The Paradise", one of the biggest clubs in the City.

North End. Best Italian food, and usually not too expensive. Lot's of awesome Bakerys around there too for late night snacks. ummmm cannolis

Kellys Roast Beef for the bestest Roast Beast Sandwich Eva! It's outside of the city, but worth the ride. Go to the one in Revere, near the Beach (Revere Beach), this is classic Boston, and can be very good entertainment. http://www.kellysroastbeef.com/

You gotta go for a Duckboat tour as well. (maybe you will get Tim Thomas's,Rondo's, Big Papi's, or even Tom Bradys seat :)) http://www.bostonducktours.com/

Keep in mind the streets, and design of the city make no sense at all. If you don't know the area, it's easy to get lost driving. use the T, or taxi, and save yourself a headache.

        Have Fun

hahaha, yeah you should definitely take a duck-tour - touristy, sure, but it really is a great way to see the city.

              A few other ideas:

Check-out the Prudential Tower... one of the two big skyscrapers in the city. There's an observation deck up there and also a swanky restaurant "Top of the Hub" (it's pricey, but if you pop in for a drink or just an appetizer or something..)

There's also the harbor-islands... they depart from down by the aquarium. You can take a ferry out there and spend the day relaxing, hiking, whatever. Pro-tip: buy a kite and fly it while you eat lunch under a tree :) George's Island is really cool - it's a giant old granite fort you can wander around and explore. (There's one area of the fort - an old powder magazine - that's amazing. It has no windows and is as black as black gets - it has 12ft thick granite walls and a big cavernous ceiling. It has the most extreme acoustics I've ever heard. If you yell, it takes like 10 seconds for the sound to fully decay. Sounds amazing to sing in there.

              Where are you staying?

you could drop the aquariam and the science museum. been to one youve been to them all IMHO. JFK museum is out of the way again my opinion.

While your in Bunker Hill go to Figs. Wicked awesome artisnal pizza. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...m=1&iwloc=addr

I forgot there really is no T stop for Bunker Hill. You may need a cab or take the T to North Station (GO BRUINS) and walk about 3 miles. Well they do have cabs.

@ Whiskey - We're staying at the Marriott in Cambridge. I think. Woman unit has a family friend who got us a wicked discount, so we're going to live the high life a little bit. If the hotel has a bar, or there's an amazing bar in Boston (I'm sure), you're coming out for a drink! BTW, GF is only 20, so she can't. But me... I'm allllll legal

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I'm really looking forward to all the exploring! I've been to boston a few times, but it's been YEARS since I've actually been to a proper museum or anything.

You should walk around Harvard Square. cool place albeit a tad nerdy.

FYI- Its pretty tough to get a drink in boston if your under 21. Most places ID EVERYONE.
