  • Big Power Outage in Southern California, Arizona, and Baja Mexico

Two failing power wires, caused a massive outage leaving residents in SoCal, Arizonam and Parts of Mexico. The outage occured at 3:45 pm PST. This left more than 1.4 Million people (Including me) without power. San Diego Gas & Electric along with other power companies have been working to restore power. A few areas have already had their power back.

I'm in National City in San Diego county. The power came back on about 9:20 PST. Local radio is saying that this all started when a technician in Arizona performed a procedure that shut down a power conduit which sends power to Southern California. Who knew the regional grid is this vulnerable?

Some poor guy sitting at some substation somewhere bored out of his mind said "hmm, i've never pressed this button before..."
Well for those without power, I certainly hope it comes back soon.

Though im on the road, my girl called me frantic a few times. It seems to have come back up at least in South Orange County about 9pm last night.

Someones going to be looking for a new linesman job.
