Did you play the original Insurgency? If so you might be skeptical about giving the lead developer here money before hand. Don't get me wrong, I thought the original mod was brilliant, but it shot progressively downward as its development progressed. This write up makes it sound like they will put Brink style class and weapon selection on the old maps... that seems to me to miss the great part of the original where there were only 12 slots available and 6 roles in two fireteams. Forced teamwork because everyone couldn't take exactly the weapon they wanted, they were required to play with their team for their loadout to function well.
As Misnomer has already pointed out it is a great concept but the original lacked a good delivery. In the beginning this is what turned me off and the fact that I could get the experiences offered elsewhere with a lot more support.
Also if they have spent so much time on it why aren't they willing to put the alpha out there so we can dip our toes a little without paying up front. If they we're serious about getting peoples attention this would be the surefire way. Also 180k seems a bit much in comparison to some of the other Kickstarters I've helped to fund, even if they were more they kept giving out info everyday, non-stop.

I really don't think their team is up to making a commercial game. If anything I wish they'd completely rework on a new source distrobution for free.
