I think I asked this last time, and I don't remember if I got an answer...

Are you serious? Do adults really do this? I mean, a thousand bucks is a lot of money, but to humiliate yourself in public like that? Is pride worth nothing anymore?

It depends on what you mean by adults really. The one I was forced to go to in NH was mostly 15 to 22 year olds making complete asses of themselves for money. Brings a new meaning to the term "prostitute"... I shouldnt say that really... most prostitutes have standards in what they would do for money.

wow. harsh. how about to compete, you never wanted to see who is the best? These tournies for all this money and DDR machines which cost 5 grand each all across the nation are proof enough that there are alot of people out there who play this. Ender, i can guarantee you that no one started playing DDR with the intent on joining a tourny to make money, and to associate me with a prostitute wrong.

Best at what exactly? What are the social consequences of such widespread public shamelessness?

There is a difference between "who is the best" and "who can be the biggest moron for profit". If they want to see who the best is, then do it with out prize money and lets see how many people show up.

That may of been true when it first started, but I bet you its different now. I talked to bunch of the kids who were completing at the one I was forced to go see. A lot of them dont even like the game, they only went for the prize money. To them its a job, nothing more. As soon as you start paying people for this, it turns into a job and IMHO it kills any reason to actually play the game.

And this is coming from somebody who used to hustle people at Street Fighter 2. So I know what I'm talking about. Any time you add money to the mix it changes the game for everybody.

and to associate me with a prostitute wrong.
Actually I said prostitutes were better because they at least had some standards on what they would do for money.

I have every realization on how much skill it takes to hit the proper arrow at the proper time, after which it may be followed by another arrow, at which i will have to hit at a further proper moment.

Much like that whack-a-mole game that I see 8 year olds play at arcades. Except this one give you a false sense that you can dance.

                    That's just my opinion =)

And for the DDR players here I will supply a hint

DDR is *not* dancing...what looks cool on the game usually becomes lame on the dance floor
