Pancho just bought a house in a OKC suburb. Haven't heard from him in a bit.

            Re: Everyone OK in OK?

I reside on the NW side of OKC. I'm up, unfortunately I've tried going down to Moore in my MARPAT cammies (after cutting off my beard and hair) and tried to help out, was sidelined as a back up for a few hours and then sent home. The rescue teams are turning so many people away, which is why I went down in my cammies figuring they wouldn't turn away a Marine's help. I felt awful, like a Marine in a firefight with no rifle. Anyways, I've rounded up as much sh*t as I could and took it down there (like the pallet of water I had in a shed in my backyard). Now I'm just waiting.

I work at Will Rogers World Airport and watched the damn thing roll in. The first thing that came to my mind was "F*ck, this is May 3rd all over" (which I was almost 11 when that happened and I'll never forget that).

If there's anyone you know in here and you can't get in touch with them, PM me and I'll see what I can do to get in contact with them.

Okay, I just made this map with references so you all have an idea of how close this bastard was. Make sure to look at the scale on the bottom left side of the picture to get a clear idea. It was well within 10 miles of me.

Unfortunately I don't have any safe place. I have to keep a keen eye on the news and if it's close, jump in my truck and run. The house I live in was built once upon a time ago and has no good interior walls. When a tornado approaches, you want to put yourself near the center of the house away from the exterior walls if you do not have a safe room, which is usually a foot of concrete or a few inches of steel on all sides and built into the foundation with a large steel door, or you do not have a tornado shelter, which is basically an underground shelter. So my only option is to drive away from the area.

Only positive for me is there's only been a handful of tornadoes between my place and my parents, which is about 4 miles NW of where I live (if you look just N of my place you can see a large road that runs NW/SE, they live right by it where it intersects with the Kilpatrick Turnpike, which is the orange highway that runs N/S then turns E).

                  Safe room:

                  Shelter:

Damn Mangeface, glad to hear you're ok. I'm up in Enid and thankfully we just had some crazy thunderstorms over the weekend, but nothing damaging. It seems like they're being pretty strict about who they're letting in to help due in part to the overwhelming number of volunteers.

If any of you guys up there need anything too let me know.

I didn't join a squad once and this guy named Nardini took me into the back room and beat me with a sock of oranges.

Yeah, I knew were you were when I saw your location was Vance AFB. Your T-38s do touch and go's on 35R (the runway right in front of the hangar I work in) all day M-F.

Anyways, just found this and it's the little thing that keep us together. You have to read the whole thing, but 44 and 45 at the end really hit the whole point of why I loved this article and it made it so heartwarming right now.

                        Re: Everyone OK in OK?

Anyways, update for today. About 12 people from my work had houses damaged or destroyed from the tornado. I took the day off to help one go through his, which took a direct hit. We found some of his valuables, like his wife's jewelry, pictures and his gun safe which had some valuable firearms and documents in it. His gun safe weighs about 2,000 lbs. and was anchored to the foundation of his house. We found it about 200 yards from where his house was.

Didn't take any pictures while I was down there since it's really not a priority. I'll probably be going back down later this week and I'll try and take some then.
