*Ring... Ring... Ring*

Yes, hello, is this idea support? I need help with ideas on what and how to make something simple for breakfast. Any ideas? I was thinking something with eggs, but my ideas seem hair brained. Could you help me with ideas?

Re: idea support: breakfast

I skip breakfast as part of my training regime these days. Works far better for me, after the first 3-4 days you get used to it. Seems to have a huge number of benefits. Could be an idea to try that? I rarely "break my fast" before 1pm.

Cut out the center of a piece of bread (save it), put in a pan with butter (bubbling) and crack an egg in the center. Fry the center section of bread in the pan as well, take all out when done to likeness and consume.

Or

in a blender
8 oz of milk
1/2 banana (and maybe a strawberry or two if you have them) - many fruits can be mixed and substituted - test your favorites and make it your own
one raw egg

blend

pour in glass and drink

Updated for hardcore summer training (the current version - post HS)

more milk (12 to 14 oz)
add one scoop of whey protein

blend as above and consume

Jeepo, but I want to have breakfast. I've been skipping breakfast and lunch as of the past 2 weeks and the two unhealthy times I ate involved some creepy incidents which included a walk over to a police station...

MrMojay Well, the hard boiled egg sounds good...

Would it just be better to get up do my exercise routine for the day and then make food?

In any case, how about I reword this. I'm trying to eat healthy and exercise. What kind of breakfast ideas should I try?

You can't go wrong with eggs, they are super food. Definitely buy yourself some nice local fresh eggs. They are much better than the older/more processed ones from the stores, and usually less expensive. There's lot's and lot's of ways to cook them too. My favorite right now, is "Buffalo Eggs" Butter and/or coconut oil mixed with any hot sauce goes into the warming fry pan, when it starts to sizzle, throw in the eggs, a little more hot sauce on top with a little salt/pepper, flip, cook over easy, and walla! A piece of well buttered toast to mop up that yolk, and glass of milk, to wash it all down. Mmmmm thats a perfect breakfast.

I'm a smoothie person for the morning.

I get my protein early and leave solid food for lunch and dinner.

If you care, then read up on why breakfast is the most important meal of the day. In a nutshell it kickstarts your metabolism which affects you many different ways throughout the day.

Fruit, nuts, granola on occasion, but mostly smoothies are what I consume in the A.M.

And one cup of coffee on monday, wed, and fri morning.

I'm one of those "routine" people.

I couldn't even begin to function with so little. I have two cups before I can even begin to comprehend what morning is.

I make boiled eggs and toast with a strong coffee before doing a 10 mile run, best not to mess with them, either boil them or poach them and maybe a pinch of salt.
I also make a green smoothie before a run, I mix up what I put into it and only make them during the week, the main ingredients I use for the green smoothie are spinach, green cabbage, kale, 1 pear, 1 apple and a banana and yes it tastes fine.

Boiled eggs have plenty of protein and will keep you full for longer, same with wholegrain breads, I have gone 4 to 5 hours without food after eating 2 eggs 2 toast and coffee, if I do a 1:30hr run, well I am pretty much hungry 10 20 mins after it.

After my run I will prepare a mixture of 100g of pink salmon (tinned is fine), slice of onion, clove of garlic, a few spinach leaves, 4-5 cherry tomatoes, 2 tablespoons of light mayonnaise, salt and pepper and mix it all together into a kind of mouse, then prepare a wholemeal pita bread and place all the mixture into it, it is delicious and just what you need after a long run, and to drink either a green smoothie or a tall glass of cold milk which is great for helping those electrolytes refuel.
