I just backed that project. Definitely something you guys need to look into if you own a mobile device with a micro USB port (or lightning port). Personally I've been waiting for something just like this and now it's here. :)

I think it's a neat idea, but I'm not sure how much staying power it has with more and more new phone kit moving over to wireless charging.

I'm waiting for the day where my whole countertop will act as a power source for anything I drop on to of it. :)

Wireless charging like Qi is still not in every smartphone. It's still largely a flagship spec and even then some flagships don't even have it. And they don't charge at a rate higher than like 1.5 A @ 5V (at least the most powerful one I bought only charges at this rate).

I realize it's not on every smartphone, but the industry is certainly moving in that direction, hence my concern about STAYING power...

I hear ya. I'll probably still be using devices that have to charge via a cable for at least a few years longer. By the time wireless (inductive or otherwise) charging becomes ubiquitous, years more would have passed.

I actually backed this today without even seeing your post lol. While wireless charging is cool, its currently not at the stage where it can deliver high current to a device to do quick charges.

              Re: ZNAPS on Kickstarter

I use a wireless charging 'plug in' adaptor for charging all my devices: phones, tablets and a clock radio, hopefully this will save wear n tear on the USB ports, saving me having to replace the adapters or repair the ports.

              BACKED today
