        Read what Total says here:

        http://www.tacticalgamer.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=4731

Note: Some individuals might get a Request timed out which is usually because your Internet Provider (ISP) has blocked the ability to ping within their (your) internal network which is becoming a more common security practice.

        3) Support game play in a near-simulation environment. Where the focus of play would not be solely on doing what it takes to win, but doing so utilizing real-world combat strategy and tactics rather than leveraging exploits provided to players by the design of the game engine.

I know that Alltel filters 92 byte ICMP packets, which means windows traceroute will get filtered. You should still be able to "ping" without failure though. Download a third-party traceroute utility, and you should be able to get some real results.
