Other than the fact it will take FOREVER...no its not a bad idea... I would say check all your connections and what not and check your router settings....reboot...all that jazz...if nothing helps then give it some time.... after that I would reinstall...
Looking for competitive teammates for
Day of Defeat:Source and Battlefield 2 to join us!
I figured it out.
I did this simple test.
Logically college website servers are located on campus, so I went to randon college sites. Some on the east coast, some on the west. For some reason all the servers and websites to the east of the mississippi river doesn't work, but anywhere west works. This is for me, I don't know if it applies to any of you. So steam's login verification server must be east of me.
Can anyone else provide more info.
Deffinantly means there's a major router down somewhere between you and the steam servers. Let it wait a day or two to be fixed (or until monday if they're really lazy) before doing anything drastic like starting a reinstall when it probably isn't the problem.

Well, I deleted steam, and in the process of reinstalling CS:S. I wanted toi get rid of all that hl2 junk on my hd anyway. Steam is working for me now, and I was gonna start playing AA, but I can't get past that SF training mission that you have to stay undetected. I also realized that I love TG's CSS so much I would feel like a traitor to stop playing it, or juggle 2 games. Even though AA is an awesome game.
