  • Forcefield developed for tanks (not BF2)

I know this isn't BF2 related, but I thought you guys might find it interesting.

Anyway, the Israeli have developed a new forcefield system that detects incoming RPGs (Rocket Propelled Grenades) and manages to disarm it in mid-air, so when it hits, nothing happens. I never thought this sort of thing would actually be avaliable, but science has done it again!

That's sweet. The future is here now. Imagine the other future advances that one day we will enjoy: wireless internet access, massive storage devices the size of a pack of gum, handheld GPS devices....wow, the future will be a great place ;)

So it's not really like a forcefield but just some sort of gun that autoshoots RPGs down

From the looks of it, it just emits a strong pulse of energy that frys the power and circuits of the RPG as they get close....should be interesting to see it in battle. Only thing is does it do the same for those RPGs going out?
that sounds like a good idea trooper.

in a couple of shots you can see "projectiles" moving i the opposite direction of the rpg...

Thats the thing. The RPG-7 series launcher is very simple in its design. Its more or less a rocket assited grenade. There is no electronics whatsoever in it. Even the newer versions the RPG-28 and so on and the US cousin the LAWS are non-electronic.

I understand how it works. I did see the secondary projectile flying towards the RPG round.
