    Re: Movies to watch

If you are looking for horror that is also funny I strongly suggest Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness (watch them in that order). They are unusual to say the least but worth seeing. You don't miss much by skipping Evil Dead, but if you really like Dead 2 and Army go back and see the one that started it all as well.

I have thought about the need for a netflix thread or sticky here for a while.

But just passing on this web site:
              http://www.hackingnetflix.com/

Lots of good info there, and updated every few days.

                        Re: Movies to watch

Now for one of my favorite movies of all time, and the most underrated movie of all time...

                        Hart's War.

It's about an American POW who was a law student before going to war. He goes to the German POW camp, stuff that I won't tell you happens, and he has to defend a black pilot in court. More stuff happens, there are cover ups, it's a movie where you have to think a bit to really enjoy it.

Don't expect much action. The few action sequences are short, they are there only to set up the story.

You should also see 300, Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, and the Back to the Future trilogy.

How about movies to avoid? Things we thought would be good but sucked.

I love the book The Phantom Tollbooth and hated the animated film.

As a rule, I hate all "monster in the dark" movies, including the first Alien movie. I also tend to hate anything made to look like a home movie, like Blair Witch and the upcoming Quarantine.

I tend to like Pixar stuff, but I had to turn off Cars after about 10 minutes of smarmy cuteness with no cleverness to compensate.
