Absolutely true! I'm somewhat guilty, but there's a lot of times in everyday life where I see the kind of people he's pointing the finger at, and I'm reminded of just how much we take all of these modern conveniences for granted.

Not that long ago, I was cursing and HOT because my cable signal was out, so I couldn't watch a hockey game, and of course I couldn't even get on the internet to track the score. Then not that long after, I happened to be telling my kids about living in Sidney, Nebraska in the 70's, and we were able to pick up one channel on TV, from Sterling, Colorado, on our woodgrain cabinet TV with the rotating channel knobs. Then my wife started laughing and reminded me that we all used to have to adjust the horizontal and vertical knobs to dial in each channel. It stopped and made me think how truely amazing it is that I have at my disposal something like 200 channels, on any one of four televisions in my house, at any time.

LOL, I remember mid-60's when my dad brought home our first color TV, a huge thing at that time. A "good" off the air picture was about the same quality as scrambled pr0n a decade later. (We lived across San Francisco Bay from the transmitters, and on the back side of a hill, so had to depend mostly on reflected signal.)

I remember the early acoustic remotes, that would send ultrasonic info using a "clicker". (Not that my family ever had one of those. Those were for "rich" people, the upper middle class.)

Hehe, we had one of those in the late 70's early 80's. We where rich! They drove the dogs crazy. A fun thing to do was hold my little brother down and hold the thing to his ear while madly clicking. It hurt.

Our town also got cable television around then.

Good lord, that was about 30 years ago.
