  • question from a newcomer

    hi everyone,

I was just referred to this clan by a mate from me after my previous one shut down.

So our previous clan was shut down and now me and 3 mates need a new home. One of us is playing alot of shooters i'm sure he'd find his place but the 3 others (including me) only/mainly play empire total war. Now I saw there isn't a section for this game is it possible to start one (what do you need to prove/do to start one?).

Also we're waiting very anxiously for opf2 you guys gonna start a section for this game to or not?

just one more question, is there a "rules" page of some sort (rules for joining).

    thx for your time,
    falconpilot

    Re: question from a newcomer

    Hey welcome! :)

First of all tactical gamer is not a 'clan' its a community. But to be honest it operates in a similar way to a clan so not to worry.

This does mean that anyone is free to join so long as they read the primer, which can be found here:http://www.tacticalgamer.com/tactica...er-primer.html

So long as you read that your in!

We have a sub forum for OPF2 that can be found here: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/operation-flashpoint-2/ and I'm pretty sure we will be involved in it in some way.

If you cant wait till then we have several other games you can be involved in, ranging from ArmA 2 to Call of Duty with pretty much everything in-between. Check out the various sub forums to find out more.

With regard to Empire Total war, although TG does not fully support it many of our members do play it, and some threads can be found in the strategy section: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/strategy-games-strat/

If your interested you can see what were all playing by joining the TG x-fire clan here: http://www.xfire.com/communities/tacticalgamer/

There is also a steam user group, but you'll have to ask someone else about that :p

Hope that helps, if you have anymore questions feel free to post here or in any of the game related forums. Also feel free to PM me or any admin.

See you on the battlefield :D

thx for the answer paintscratcher, really helps alot :)

will talk to my other members about it but I think there wont be any problems

but i'm guessing you guys do work with trainings in sections so when are the most common training times ? (we're all from europe)

would be cool if someone would then give the steam group name since thats very usefull for empire

        Re: question from a newcomer

        No problem :D

I did some searching around on steam and found the group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/mrpatrik

Also found a TG empire total war group! http://steamcommunity.com/groups/tacticalgameretw

There seem to be a bazillion other groups we have set up for pretty much every game were involved in. List here:
        http://steamcommunity.com/actions/Se...tactical+gamer

Anyway, we have a dedicated group of people for training in various games called TGU (tactical gamer university)

They are an extensive outfit who have regular classes in several games. Times depend on the instructor so can range a lot. Most are in US times however there are also many euro-friendly times as well. The link to TGU is:
        http://www.tacticalgamer.com/tactical-gamer-university/

However TG also enters many competitions and has many sub groups (in house squads) that may have their own private training sessions.

We also host private TG password nights and events on our servers regularly which you can sign up for in the game related forums.

On a side note your friends might be interested in the servers we run, this is the main list:

                    Re: question from a newcomer

Do you mean an In House Squad (IHS) or TGU class?

If you mean and IHS then you must first have a Supporting Membership: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/payments.php

Then you can apply to join any of the IHS's.

If you mean a TGU class then you have to sign up for any of their classes in their forums.

                        Re: question from a newcomer

                        Ok sure :)

An In-house squad is a small group of people who have decided to create a small group of gamers.

'These squads are small factions, not independent of TG, but formed to allow groups to more closely work together to develop tactics, procedures and missions. Able to operate as individual units they are most powerful when called in to represent TG, bringing their own flavor and style into helping the community as a whole. '

A full list of the current IHS's can be found here: http://www.tacticalgamer.com/wiki/in...n_House_Squads

A tactical gamer university (TGU) class is were an instructor teaches a small group of people a skill in a certain game. For example flying helicopters on Project Reality.

Sorry If I have confused you, I was trying to determine what you meant by 'section' :D

                          Re: question from a newcomer

well, in my previous clan we had for example a wic section, this were all the people who played this game together.

i saw you guys had like cod sections, wic section, ... these are the ones I was meaning :)

btw is it possible to create an in-house squad in a game that tg doesn't actively play?

for example would it be possible for me and my 2 mates to start an in-house squad for empire total war?

also those in-house squads do they use the teamspeak of tg or are they more independent?

                            Re: question from a newcomer

                            Oh ok :)

The forums are free for you to post in, so for example you could go to the cod section and get involved, no sign up required. (Except a TG forum account, which you have.)

Also the servers for all the games are public so you can join them without any sign-ups.

With regard to the in-house squad, yes you and your friends could create a squad for any game which you desire. However TG rules require you to have a supporting membership to create or join an In-house squad.

More information on supporting memberships here:
                            http://www.tacticalgamer.com/payments.php

All In-house squads are given their own Team Speak channel on the TG server.

                            I hope that helps. :D
