  • High School Football

I work as a videographer and mainly shoot a variety of high school sports. The San Diego section football finals were held last week on Friday and Saturday. Four of the five division finals took place on Friday at Qualcomm Stadium where the Chargers play. The fifth final was played at a local community college. Below are links to the highlights of the two games I filmed. I work as part of a internet broadcast team including a play by play announcer and game analyst.

This second game dominated by the quarterback from Mission Bay high school who rushed for 342 yards and scored 7 touchdowns. One touchdown went 92 yards

btw, these highlights are low quality streams because blu-ray and high quality dvds can be bought of the complete game.

    Just thought I would share.

Also, just covered three of the state football championships. They were all very good games. I'll post links to the highlights when they are available.

    Re: High School Football

Heck, I love high school football! Why? Well, I'm a band geek and if the football team isn't playing, I'm not either. I play, I march halftime, I scream and shout and rally the band section. My team went undefeated in the regular season, only to lose in the semi-finals to a team with a massive (and I mean massive) guy. It simply took two to three guys to take him down, and our team isn't exactly what you would call small. If we could have blocked that guy and forced him to throw, we would have been fine. Heck, I had to dodge a stray football that came to close to my plume for comfort from their team while we were setting up on the sidelines for pre-game. We lost in the same place last year, but won MD state championships in 2007.

Anyways, the end of the football season is one of the most depressing times of the year. It means packing up the bleacher covers, uniforms, and the great fun of the season.

    233 days until band camp!

Mademoiselle, the correct term is symphonic enthusiast! lol j/k :)

I had alot of fun in HS band! Though I wish I wasn't such an introvert back then. :row__631: I actually got a college to pay for my first two years of school by playing my instrument.:icon_cool

The end of football season was always a downer for the reasons you say, Beat.
Though did you all have an area competition just for marching bands?

And of course you must follow the Drum and Bugle corps like the Phantom Regiment and The Cavaliers!

Heck, I get my same from marching band! The band competes in 5-7 USSBA competitions a year (we took states last year, this year it got rained out) and does a full field show and pre-game at every game. This year, I was the low brass section leader. We are a Group IV Open band (70 members and we have gotten over a score of 90 at the national championships). This year, the USSBA National Championship was on an SAT day, so we only went to Regional Championships.

As for DCI, I love them. Personally, I'm a Cadets fan and I usually go to the DCI Eastern Championships in Allentown. I'll probably be attending an audition camp for them next year just to see what level I need to strive to do summers in drum corps during college.

          Beat,

Have you heard of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic school? At the beginning of the football season, they travelled here to play Valhalla high school which is in East San Diego county. I think at the time they were ranked number one in Maryland and had 15 Division I prospects on the team.

Why yes I have, I'm in the county. Good Counsel and Dematha are the two big private school power houses of the state. My school team was in the top 10 this year and has been for the last few.
