  • Multiplayer co-op (FPS not required)?

We're looking for some co-op gaming, against humans or bots. Anything that lets four of us work together in the same group is fine, as long as we're not a minority against a team (squad-based or not) that otherwise isn't working together. If we're the entire team (against bots), that's fine.

We're not married to the idea of FPS. If there's a great racing game that offers co-op, or some sort of flight sim that we don't need 120 hours of logged flight time to start to enjoy, that's fine.

RTS would be fine, if we can fight together with some hope of balance against whatever the computer throws at us.

    Many thanks for any suggestions.

Do you have a Wii? New Super Mario Bros Wii is pretty darn cool.

PC only? L4D and L4D2 are both excellent co-op shooters.

Borderlands is a fairly recent FPS that has full coop (as in COOP is the campaign just with more than one person). Splinter Cell Chaos Theory has a good coop mode but I'm not sure it'd be worth buying the game for it if you don't have it already. And as said before L4D is pretty good with friends (in fact, it's basically ONLY good with friends or at least people you know).

+1 to super mario bros wii, although you're probably looking for PC games.

I second L4D and L4D2. Being able to take a break in the heat of the action (allowing the decent ai to take over for your character) is an awesome ability, plus allows the game to go on if one person does have to take off.

                Other good multi-player games:
BF2 mods like Project Reality (form a squad)
                Company of Heroes (RTS)
Dawn of War/Winter Assault/Dark Crusade combo (RTS)

                Not sure on racing games.

Someone told us we could stay on the same team with MW2, so we took out second mortgages and bought it. Hopefully it'll be worth it.

Thank you for the replies (Synergy sounds interesting!, and <3 SMBW).
