  • Warning: Steam scam sent via tg community members

    Hey gang,

I thought I'd give a heads up to the rest of TG that some of our community members have had their Steam accounts compromised by a phishing scam.

This scam works by asking for your steam credentials on a phishing website. Once you enter your information. your account has been compromised! The attackers then use a script to message your entire friends list to attempt to scam them as well. Here is the message:

9:01 PM - |TG-32nd|XXXXXX: Weekend Party! Nvidia & ATI customers are now able to pick any steam full game for unlimited time! You have to be Nvidia\ATIs' customers.
    http://XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    Pic of site:

DO NOT ENTER YOUR INFORMATION ON THE PROVIDED LINK. I've left it up so you can see what the phishing site looks like.

If you have fallen for this phishing scam, you can reclaim your steam account here:

    https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...4988-DHXV-7272

If you use your Steam password for ANY other website or service (like banking, TG, social website, porn, etc., you naughty person), change those passwords immediately as well! The javascript on the phishing site also trolled your cookies for websites you visit.

    Rincewind out!

I saw that too, it seemed a bit too good to believe. I saw the WOT rating also.

Just another tip. If you haven't done so already, go and verify you account in the steam client. This will trigger a verification code to your email-address for any changes to it. So even if they scam your steam account name and password somehow, they can't change your password etc, since the verification code goes to your email address which is also now needed for changes.
