  • AMD and Nvidia release new drivers, and other software updates

First up the big news is both AMD and Nvidia have new gfx. drivers out. And these are official WHQL cert. in the case of Nvidia.

Tweaktown has a really good writeup:
    NVIDIA ForceWare 266.58 Performance Analysis
    and
AMD Catalyst 11.1 and AMD Catalyst 11.1a hotfix released

Some other programs I've seen updated recently:
    Fraps Updated To Version 3.2.6

VLC media player - What's new in 1.1.6

Download of the Day: FastStone Image Viewer 4.3 (an awesome free program most people don't know about but should. I used to use it mainly for batch image converting and renaming, but looks like they have added a TON of new stuff.)

    CCleaner 3.03.1366

    GPU-Z 0.5.1

    OpenOffice.org 3.3.0

I'm sure I had more, but can't seem to find them right now.

Ironic, that's the exact same program I use for batch image conversions and renaming!

Hmm, how come nVidia's driver release gets bolded but AMD's driver release isn't?

As an update to this thread, FRAPS just got updated and I'm liking what the changelog says:

          - Greatly reduced CPU usage while recording on most configurations
          - Fixed black areas in captures from Flight Simulator (FS9/FSX)
          - Fixed counter not showing in correct position for some windowed applications
          - Fixed crash when recording DWM at 1366x768 on 64-bit versions of Windows
          - Fixed counter appearing in Google Talk
          3rd February 2011 - Fraps 3.2.8 Released

Defraggler (defrag program from the folks that make Ccleaner) also just got a big update:
          • Improvements to speed and accuracy of the search algorithm.
          • Redesigned NTFS processes for optimized speed and memory.
          • Improved event handling with Windows 7.
          • Improved scheduling for non-admin users.
          • Fixed issue that caused drive icons to disappear from the drive list.
          • Fixed issue that caused the Analyze button to be incorrectly drawn during long tasks.
          • Improved handling of long non-English strings in options dialog.
          • Fixed issue with fragmentation percent when drive contains sparse files.
          • Moved about dialog to a separate window.
          • Improved error logging in Windows 7.
          • Minor GUI changes and tweaks.
