  • iPhone4 newb needs some help please..

I just got my iPhone 4..I did have the old 3G..so a pretty big step up..

But I am confused..my nieces husband has one, and his has a little thing at the top left that shows a percentage in numbers of the remaining battery life..mine does not..and I cannot find a setting anywhere that will turn this on..neither of our phones is "jailbroken"..or whatever you call it, and my phone has a weird little picture of an old style phone handset on top of a couple rows of dots to the left of my bluetooth symbol, and his phone does not have this..?

I am confused..can anyone of you iPhone pros shed some light on this for me?

Follow these steps to do so:

    Tap on Settings
    Tap on General
    Tap on Usage
    Switch on Battery Percentage

    Hope this helps.

and also, this things battery does not seem to last even as long as my 3G did before I got this..

I have it set to go dark and lock at 1 minute, I have 3G turned off, but I have to keep bluetooth on (as I have done on the 3G) so that I can hear, 'cuz I be deaf!

If you're constantly using it, the battery only lasts for about 4-6 hours. For one reason or another, the latest iPhone 4 has half the battery time of their previous model.

I dont since i dont use a bluetooth but im sure google does. As far as the battery life goes it may be the bluetooth draining it. Im sure there are multiple posts about this somewhere on the web.

Re: iPhone4 newb needs some help please..

To add a datapoint, I have BT disabled on my 4 and the battery easily lasts me all day. This is with regular voice, text, and email usage as well as light browsing over both wifi and 3G. This doesn't by any stretch of the imagination mean that BT is the cause of your problem, but it would be worth a try to engineer an experiment where you disable it for a day and measure the battery, then enable it again the next day and try to approximate the same usage pattern on the phone.

My iPhone 4 easily lasts a day with moderate usage. Wifi, 3G and Bluetooth all enabled.
