    4.7GB

DVD+R and DVD+RW formats are supported by Philips, Sony, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Ricoh, Yamaha and others.

DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM formats are supported by Panasonic, Toshiba, Apple Computer, Hitachi, NEC, Pioneer, Samsung and Sharp.

DVD+R and DVD-R can be used in most all commercial DVD-ROM players.

Well sounds good to me.. We just got an LG Super multi disk (?) burner that burns EVERYTHING! for $57 Cdn...

And I do mean everything from 48x CD-RW to 16X Dual layer DVD's....

        A DVD+R DL would hold 8.5 GB.

Tosh, if you're looking for blank media, try getting some Taiyo Yuden from ncix.com. They're in BC so shipping doesn't make the media that worthwhile but Taiyo Yuden media is very good. If you have important data, Taiyo Yuden discs will give you a good burn. Still it's $36 + taxes + shipping (no PST because we're not in BC). There's also blankmedia.ca since these guys are in Ontario.

One more question, for now, about DVD burners...

For dual layer, does any old plain jane DVD+/-R blank work for dual layer?

No, the disc/media will be designated DL. So it would be marked something like DVD+R DL. I think the +R is currently all that is being made with Dual Layer. The discs are pretty expensive. Not sure if the price Sarc quotes is for one disc or a pack of three.

A bit of a haul, but quite complete.
