    Re: Modem/Router Problem

It could be the server you're pinging or the route to that server is losing lots of packets along the way. Trying do this: ping google.com

Do you get a latency count and 4 replies?

I'm not sure how to paste from the cmd window but I got three replies, the first reply was Request timed out. On the second attempt two of the replies timed out. The actual response time is good though at an average of 18ms.

Hmm. Connect your modem directly to your PC and try again. Quickest way to determine if your router is to blame for the packet loss.

My modem is also my router, it's a combo that Verizon gave me, I'm using Verizon Fios.

Oh. In that case, have you already tried power cycling your modem (unplug it for 30 seconds, then power it back on)?

If you have, then it could be a routing issue or the modem+router is dying. Either way, you'll have to call up Verizon and see if they can help you (reroute you or send you a replacement modem+router).

              Re: Modem/Router Problem

A new router/modem is on its way and hopefully I'll have it soon. If that doesn't work I don't know what to do.

Have you checked to make sure that you're not blocking ICMP in the router? Should just be a checkbox somewhere to allow/deny ICMP traffic.

You'll want it allowed if you're going to ping it.

Battle take a quick look at Apophis's suggested setting in your router+modem CP.

I checked and it is allowed/not blocked on my router.
