    Plantronics:

I'm trying to decide and keep the price under 35 dollars. The one with the best quality I would prefer.

Although not in your price range, hands down: Medusa 5.1 surround headset

Fired this up yesterday coupled with a new Audigy 2 ZS Platinum. This is nothing short of amazing. The CPU cyclage this card saves is immense. BF2 runs incredibly smooth on high quality, hardware, with EAX.

I recommend spending a few bucks more and getting the Plantronics DSP-500: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...onics&n=541966

        Re: Which Headset

Keep in mind that any USB form of sound transmission consumes 6-7 times the CPU cycles per sound played when compared to a high quality sound card.

I bought the cheap plantronics because 5 to 1 I'm going to end up running over it with my chair

            That's... pretty sad.

              Re: Which Headset

Ignore my Medusa 5.1 link. My previous headset was that exact plantronics model from Best Buy. Nice, crisp sound and the mic works very well... as long as it survives chairs. :)

ha! same here! I bought some $25 GE headset, broke it after 6 months(not to shaby lifetime I'd say). So for my next headset I just went to Walmart and got a $15 logitech. The only thing I dont like about the Logitech isthe mic is short. I actually likethe sound quality better.

I'm not going to say that you're wrong, but keep in mind that the Plantronics DSP-500 has a large sound processor attached inline with the cord. It is a high quality sound card... Whether the USB vs. PCI interface results in higher CPU cycles, I don't know, but it doesn't seem right to me...

Ok, let me rephrase that to "standard PCI sound card."
