  • Creative Soundblaster Alpha Tactical Headset

Hi guys, kinda new round here.
Anyway to the point, I've got the Creative Alpha headset http://www.creative.com/soundblaster/tactic3d/alpha/ . This comes with an external USB soundcard, and software to work the soundcard. However, this software continuously crashes; leaving me without any sound control software. I also have the Asus Crosshair IV Formula http://uk.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_...ir_IV_Formula/ which offers 'SupremeFX X-Fi Built-in' - a built in soundcard. However there is a lack of software for this, thus i cannot control it.
This bothers me as i have a HP Pavillion DV-6 Laptop with 'Beats' Audio software on, whch i absoloutely adore.

    I am running:
    Windows 7 Professional 64bit
    AMD Phenom II X4 965 @3.8Ghz
    8GB DDR3
    Gigabyte Geforce GTX560

So the question is; any fixes or 3rd party software that i can use?

    Thanks for the help!

That's great thanks! I'll let you know how it goes.
One more thing, i've connected the headset via the front panel, and my speakers via the rear panel, however, Windows cannot distinguish between front and rear panel. So i'm having to physically unplug one to use the other etc.
      Any ideas for this problem?

Update - I've done everything on that list, and well. Failure.
The program starts, which is a change, however i get a window asking me to choose a device. There is one option - HD Audio Device, however if i choose this it says that it is non compatible with the program. There should be an option to choose the X-Fi Sound blaster sound card that's built into the MOBO.

        Keep working on it.

I would ditch the creative USB sound card and just use the analog option provided. As for the Asus board just go here and put in your OS. Once it shows you the downloads grab the following:

          VIA Audio Driver V6.0.1.8100 for Windows XP 32/64bit & Vista 32/64bit & Windows7 32/64bit. (WHQL)

          Sound Blaster X-Fi Utility V1.0(R19) for Windows XP 32/64bit & Vista 32/64bit & Windows7 32/64bit. (WHQL)

The non compatibility is with the analogue, the problem is the fact that the onboard sound card isn't showing as a device, thus i cannot select it.
Extremely confused to tell you the truth.

Did you install the drivers for the card?

Im going to assume that they are the drivers on the website, so yes. However, after 6 hours of being turned off. I have turned it on to find it does infact now work, thanks alot for all the help :D
